Halloween II (2009)

Recommended Posts

Well the movie comes out tomorrow and I am going to go see it. I loved the first one and based on the reviews and trailers, Zombie picks up right where he left off in the first and it's supposed to be a non-stop ride. I will post my rating once I get back tomorrow night.

i thought this one takes place 2 years later?

Just got back from the movie and I really liked the movie, it goes deep into the mind of Mike Myers. You have to go into this with a open mind and just give it a chance as it does explain everything and it all makes sense. If you like the first you will def. like the second, and as for Myers mom in this one she is kinda creepy but this movie was done from the view of Myers during certain scenes and she is what fuels his killing All in all I thought the movie was good and give it a 8/10. I am sure most of you are going to hate the movie because you are going in to it expecting something that this movie is not, and this is nothing like the original H2. I love Rob Zombie's style of movies and this is just as good as the first. :)

I'd consider myself, if not a horror buff, at least a horror fan.

I liked Zombie's first remake and prefer it to his sequel here. Like most of the reviews on RT have said, it's got a "sequel" feel to it, so it sometimes feels forced and disjointed. The hallucination scenes that feature predominantly throughout the movie just didn't work for me. I understand the idea behind them, but it just didn't work well.

Even with it's problems, I'd still give it a B-. The film is extremely brutal and Zombie handles the violence well so that it stays primal rather than falling into torture porn territory. If you liked the first one, you'd probably be willing to overlook the sequel's shortcomings and find a film worth enjoying.

So just out of curiosity, is this more along the lines of Zombie's other movies, like House Of 1000 Corpses and The Devils Rejects as far as how he treats things and stylistically speaking?

I really liked those movies, so am hoping this is more like them. Actually going to see Inglorious Basterds right now, my wife is not into the horror movies like I am, but I would like to see this sooner or later...

I went and saw this, thankfully on someone else's dime, and would recommend Inglourious Basterds over this any day. This film felt rushed and recycled. I enjoyed the first one he did, but this one is just poorly executed.

2 out of 5 stars from me. See the Basterds instead (I've see that film three times now, that's how damn good it is).

Saw the Basterds, was AMAZING. Loved it.

Still want to check this out, but I will be waiting for the rental, I figure it should be out to rent by Halloween anyways. LOL

Glad you liked it (Y) Post your review, when you get a chance, here.

As for Halloween II, I definitely agree. Wait for the DVD/Blu-ray. After thinking about it for a while, I think H2 is enjoyable, but there are a lot of flaws that keep this film from being even remotely good. I think I'll bump my rating up to 2.5 out of 5. I need to see this film again as I may have been to harsh with the first time I saw it. Maybe, I don't know until I see it again.

I thought the movie was just like the second one, minus the great background story as the first did. However, I understand it is harder to create a great backdrop story line when this is a sequel to the first remake.

I have to say, remarkable cast of characters, especially the women in this film! I am a big fan of Brea Grant (Mya) - from Heroes - very very beautiful girl, definitely loved seeing her again! Danielle Harris (Annie), played a great role, also very attractive to see on the big screen. Angela Timbur (Harley), also very attractive, played a great role in this film, short but very good.

Worst part about this film was the main star, Scout Taylor-Compton (Laurie). Her acting was worse than the first, as I found most of her scenes being shot with her crying... something I found a bit annoying.

I noticed a lot of extra scenes with Mike Myers walking around pointlessly through fields and seeing his dead mother and younger-self time and time again, something that they didn't normally do in the originals.

Overall, not as great as the first remake, but all I can say is Rob Zombie is a sick, twisted man. He should do Saw 7 just to see if he can get the story line to be entertaining.

8/10 from me (Y)

Finally saw this movie.

I thought it was absolute, unadulterated garbage from start to finish in every single aspect imaginable. The acting was pathetic, the directing was absolutely putrid, the editing was horrible, and most importantly, the story was complete crap. How many times did Zombie have Lourie going into shock in that movie? 29? And, please, the cliched storyline with Loomis "going Hollywood"? Not to mention the strange direction and editing choices, like slow motion in completely random parts, panning and zooming in at odd sequences as well.

Do yourself a favor, and if you like horror movies, go see any other entry in the Halloween series other than this (yes, including the craptacular Halloween H2O). This movie is cheesy, unnecessary, adds almost nothing to the franchise, and simply a waste of everyone's time as the movie drags on. I literally have nothing positive I can say about this movie at the moment. It's sad, too, considering the first Halloween remake by Zombie was a fairly decent movie that could've lent itself well to a sequel.

I would have to disagree with your opinion. I find Zombie's movies to be incredibly refreshing. I love the fact that his movies are unpolished and not over-produced. He brings an element of intensity to his movies. He does have some gore in his movies but instead of overdoing the gore, he replaces some of what could easily be a gore-fest and uses intensity and intense emotion. His movies are more towards the B-movie side and I find myself enjoying B-movies more than Hollywood produced movies.

I never said I had a problem with intensity and not being overproduced. I have a problem with almost everything else, however, as it was a garbage movie. And, I never said I disliked Zombie's work as a whole. He made a fairly decent movie with the first Halloween reboot he did, but this one was trash IMO.

I didn't see the "intense emotion" you're referring to, unless you're referring to having your main character yell at every possible opportunity. There's nothing wrong with B-movies. I wouldn't even put this on that level, though.

    • On xiaomi hyperos there's also an option to disable google assistant. I've got everything disabled. Only thing I do have installed is a web wrapped for duck.ai which claims to let you use various AIs anonymously
    • I need to understand the rationale of not shipping all of these K2 improvements in a single update/release. It's giving "we will fix Windows 11 but no commitments". It seems to me that they just announce these improvements just to appease the community.
    • The term "RTM" is long gone starting with Windows 10. Every current release is a GA build. This is the result of MS making Windows as a Service (WaaS).
    • Looks like no official TBW rating, which should be a required listing in my opinion for sites like Amazon (hell, put it on the box too.)
