'Saturday Night Live' replaces cast members Michaela Watkins and Casey Wilson weeks before debut

It's out with the old, in with the new for "Saturday Night Live."

In a not-so-funny move, the venerable comedy show has dropped newcomers Michaela Watkins and Casey Wilson from the show, and hired two replacements: Jenny Slate and Nasim Pedrad.

"I don't think anyone knows what Lorne Michaels was thinking," Watkins told Entertainment Weekly. "The only explanation I got from him, and he's not known to say things just to make people feel better, was that he felt deep down that I should have my own show."

The comedian, who in just one season on the show gained a fan following for her spot-on impersonations of Barbara Walters and Hoda Kotb, took Michaels' at face value.

"He'[s looking at the whole mix of the show and maybe he feels that what I bring would be better served on a sitcom," she said. "SNL was a dream come true for me. It was a fantastic year. I don't have any regrets."

Watkins also praised Michaels for his new hires.

"I think they are going to be exquisite," she said.

The 35th season of "Saturday Night Live" premieres on September 26th.

In all honesty, as much as i liked Michaela's impersonations it's very VERY difficult to stand out umongst the women when you're pinned up against Kristin Wiig. Wiig in my opinion is one of the funniest women in comedy, so it's gotta be tough on the women to try to make an impression. She picked up right where Tina Fey left off.

As for the SNL thursday, i thought it was ok.. it was really nice to see amy and seth back together, and i think they handled the technical difficulty pretty well.
