Tamilboy86
Hi... I think im gonna buy my MacBook Pro 13" next week. It will be the 2.5Ghz model... I see that its cheaper, if I upgrade the HDD myself. As for Desktop HDD, I normally buy Seagate or Samsung. Do they also make good 2,5" HDD or should I get something else? (Looking for 500GB) And can I use a 500GB 7200rpm drive with the 13" model(heat problems)? because apple only gives you the option to choose between 5400rpm HDD... 5400rpm is fine for me, but just wanna know... Last question, do you guys think Apple will make any kind of updates before next year? thx
GameOverRob
Did you buy one and fit one yet? Because this is exactly what I want to do.
GameOverRob
Either of these any good? http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/500GB-Weste...-8MB-Cache-2-ms http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/500-GB-Seag...Cache-11-ms-NCQ
Stetson
I put a Seagate 500GB 5400rpm in my Aluminum Macbook which has pretty much the same internal layout. The only difference with the 13" MBP is that you have to unscrew the bottom cover instead of just opening a latch. I have heard some infrequent reports of noticeable vibration from a 7200rpm drive, and I personally find 5400rpm to be plenty fast at the high density of a 500GB drive. Edit: Actually the drive that I ended up buying was a Western Digital Scorpio Blue: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822136314

presence06
I want to upgrade my 13" macbook white 2.13ghz. Ive been looking at newegg at drives, WD Black's that run at 7200 according to comments run loud? Is that true? Also, does upgrading hardware/hdd or memory, effect Applecare if you have it? My girlfriend has a WD Scorpio Black in her BlackBook, and it doesn't seem to run any louder than her old 5400RPM drive. And no, upgrades to the HDD and memory don't void your warranty. Upgrades to any other part of your system do.
Guest
And no, upgrades to the HDD and memory don't void your warranty. Upgrades to any other part of your system do. But just to note: Apple won't cover any parts you have put in yourself (e.g. your custom HDD fails).
