Protecting pictures?

Hi guys,

Just wondering how easy it would be for someone to steal my pics from my galleries. This is one of my clients galleries http://go.blu-berri.com/ that I will eventually showcase to them. Now I do normally embed a watermarked logo across each pic, but even so, how easy would it be for them to get hold of these pics, other than a ?print screen? I appreciate they wont be able to do a right click, ?save as? with it being a flash gallery?but want to make sure im not neglecting to consider all possibitiles of any potential theft!

Does The flash viewer display the images imbedded into the flash file or is it loading them directly from the server with a flash wrapper?

a flash decompiler may work to get them if they are imbedded into the flash file itself, if not someone with alot of time could find the actual urls of the images.

and of course like you said there is always screenshots to deal with, there really is no 100% way to protect them, someone who really wants them and is willing to put in the effort will get them unfortunately :(

You can get images from Flash files easily, whether they're embedded or linked from the server (Safari has an activity view that lists every request the Flash plugin makes)

Either put a watermark in the middle of the image, or don't put them up at all (people will still use the image even with the watermark if they really want to)

Edit: Yeah, Safari lists all the images on your site and the raw URL's, like http://go.blu-berri.com/medium/0011.jpg

Just don't show them in full view. thumbnails or cropped images with watermarks also are of less use to people. Although some watermarks are very easy to conceal.

well, you really cant stop the people who want to copy, there's many ways, & the last way is Capture screen shot [:D]

Ye tbh i fully expected there to not be a way to stop completely, but really just wanted to see how diffcicuilt it would be for non computer savy users.
