Desktops: Rubbish onboard graphics /Mid range graphics if you spend a grand more and I prefer to build my own custom water cooled rig.

Price, is the major factor. But also, the after sales cost. If a Mac goes wrong out of warranty, or you don't buy the Apple Care support. You are well and truly stuffed right? I dunno what support Apple offer out of warranty. However, if a PSU goes kaput in my PC, it'll cost me about ?30+ to replace it. (Upto ?100 if I go for a decent one). But well, Apple can charge me whatever they wish and there is no alternative.

No getting away from the fact that an iMac or Macbook arveryb> nice. It's just the extortionate cost you have to pay for the privilage that holds me back.

Spares for Mac's are pretty widely available so I don't see that as a problem.

Price vs. performance. I built a $900 PC with the same or better specs than a $1500 iMac. I don't personally value the all-in-one form factor enough to pay an extra $600 for it although I would imagine some do since they sell them.

Essentially, I can't figure out just what it is I'm supposed to be able to do with an Apple that I can't do with any other brand of PC. There are a few exclusive programs like Final Cut Pro (actually that's the only one I'm concerned with) that would require me to run OSX but for now I just use it on work's Mac Pros. Just like any other PC they run fine for the most part, crash or give me crap maybe once every few months, and generally do what they are supposed to. I would love to build my own high-end workstation to run FCP at home but at that point if I'm spending $1500+ on a PC and hundreds of dollars on Final Cut I would probably just get the Mac Pro and not mess with the Hackintosh side of things. At the high end there is less price difference as long as you buy your RAM from newegg and not with the initial purchase. They really rape you on simple upgrades.

I tried OS X. Doesn't read any of the current files I have or my programs. What's with them not supporting .exe after all these years? It's not like there's a patent restricting them from using it. The emulators are no excuse, I want 100% native support! Solaris 10 beat Mac to it, so I'm still waiting...

I looked seriously at getting a Macbook, I really did. This is why I didn't:

-I could get better specs on a Dell for far less money ($1500 compare to $900)

-Terrible Windows drivers for BootCamp

-Apple's arrogant rod-up-its-butt attitude. I don't really want to volunteer my money to a company that has a superiority complex.

-They claim to ship with the world's "most advanced operating system" but then tell you that Windows costs extra. That's false advertising.

If the price was comparable, the drivers didn't cripple the machine under Windows, and if Apple got their heads down to Earth with the rest of us, I would actually own one.

Price tbh as I dont really value to OS/X as a killer feature and I would have to buy windows anyway for it as far too many things dont run on macware and if you dont really enjoy the OS then whats the point of paying for the more expensive hardware...

If it was cheaper though I may be tempted to try another go at OS/X but anything over ?1000 for a laptop that should be ?750 hardware wise means I cant see the point paying ?250 extra on the chance I get into OS/X this time. I am considering hackintosh though to save some cash if I want to play with it.

TBH I would love it if Apple would release a trial version of a virtual image for windows so you can try the OS out as thats part of the reason for the Mac price.

I am hating the fanboys shooting each other down... and whats the point saying "nothing!" to a thread literally asking why ydont/b> have one. You fail just by not understanding that its not really what the OP was about...

1. Solaris has native support for Windows executables? News to me...

2. There are native Mac applications you can use instead of your Windows applications.

Your post simply makes no sense.

Price, even though I have bought 4 macs in the past 4 years..... I always sell them because I can't justify the high cost. I am really considering an iMac.... it's either that or making a hole in the wall to hide the PC.....so we'll see :p

Hmm lets see I spent over 3K for a laptop. What did that get me? 17" Screen, 1GIG Nvidia, 1900x1200 LED, 8Gig Memory, 1TB of RAID 0 7200rpm, DVD RW+/-, Backlit Keyboard, Finger Swipe , a few extras and a 3 year warranty. Umm I couldn't buy that from Apple. :) So no MAC here. Had a few never worried about price but i hated the fact they were always behind in specs to the rest of the world and upgrading was just silly costs. The UI is nice but I have grown to really enjoy Windows 7. I also run VMWARE with XP, Vista, Ubuntu and it's just sings along.

For the MAC fans enjoy just not for me.

    • Did Labour lose big? They had losses there is no doubt. However let's look at the reality. The conservatives have 168 councils I believe. Labour have 113 and Reform...38. That's a lot of growth for Reform granted. But that is not a wipeout, Reform don't have the majoring in fact at 76 I believe the Liberal Democrats have nearly twice the councils Reform do. So I am thinking there is a lot more noise than signal going on here. Now then let's talk about the law. It's an age restriction. We do it for cigarettes, **** and alcohol. This idea that some kids will find there way around it so it's not worth even trying is really really sad. Hell we can't stop every murder. Should we stop trying there too? That is the logical conclusion.
    • A game not selling doesn't mean the people working on it did "bad work". It reviewed decently well. It was also on gamepass on release.
