You go to a car place to get your car tuned, now you could get all the parts yourself install them yourself and have to worry about each part and where it came from and the tune may not even work well in the end.

Or you could go to the tuner they say you have a certain price range and ask what they offer, they can install the product and say expect 150-160wrkw from the tuning and the parts being installed.

Now it might not be the latest and greatest parts and might cost you more but in the long run you will have less issues, and more reliability and you can take it back to the 1 place and not worry about chasing up on every part. Also Mac OS X is built around the hardware machine it work quickly and smoothly without driver issues. It's not all about the hardware, its the way the software uses the hardware as well.

You might have the time to tinker around with computers but I work with them each and ever day and really when I sit down and want to read the news or look at emails or watch a movie, I don't need a core i5 or i7 to do this.

Now I see what you meant when you said this thread was funny.

Do they need to come with BD? It's really not a standard item at the moment and I'm sure its not hard for them to implement - But you are correct it doesn't

TV capture card can be installed, eSATA can be used and you can have dual monitors and the adapter is something like $30 AU, yes there is optical out.

So because it doesn't have Core i5 or i7 you can't use it? WOW interesting concept there.

Why would you run .Net framework on your Mac.... Pointless comment completely.

I have never had a virus or spyware on my Mac machines.... pointless comment again.

Why would I need to run Visual Studio when their is perfectly good applications that can do the same thing for Mac OS X? .... Pointless comment again.

I was part of the Windows crowd once, then I received a Mac through work and put Windows on it straight away.... My boss pretty much said just to use OS X see how it goes.... I slowly moved across and now I wouldn't have anything else. I work with Windows machines and they are constant trouble I want to be able to work and not worry about having issues...

I find Windows to be very uncontrolled and random now.... There are so many Windows applications that do exactly the same thing when with the Mac usually there is one application that does that 1 thing and its made to work and work easily.

Since moving about 7 friends and family which would have constant issues with Windows switch to Mac OS X I have had 0 complaints and I don't have to fix their machines any longer... Plus they don't need to pay someone to fix their machines when I'm not around (COST!)

The terminal is one of the other things I could not loose, that is something Windows has always lacked compared to any *nix machine.

Think people look at the Ads to much and all the other random hype, personally screw that stuff, if you guys why would you care about this stuff its marketing and Windows and Mac completely lie to you in ads anyways.

The whole isheep thing and what not..... I think every Windows user (majority) has posted price, compatibly, and arrogance.... I don't think many of you have actually used a Mac OS X machine because I don't have any issues with compatibility between Windows and Mac only thing I can't do is play up to date games.

Anyways its up to you what OS you use, but most of the people that post in this thread are very incorrect.

Just wondering, what are you using your computer for? Watching movies, surfing blogs?

Do you do any programming, software development?

To me, it seems that you know you made a bad choice. And you think you will feel better if you can convince us that it actually wasn't a bad choice. Otherwise, I don't really see a reason why you are trying to argue with people, coming up with ridiculously funny arguments. You could have just said, well, I got a MAC just because I like it. Would have been a perfect argument really.

1-) I dislike the OSX interface.

2-) Windows runs every single program I will ever need and more.

3-) Windows is so easy to install and run in the vast majority of hardware out there.

4-) Win 7 which has greately improved stability and the overall user experience for Windows users.

5- ) Windows is the OS I have used since I was very young, so I feel very comfortable using it.

6-) Apple products are ridiculously expensive.

7-) I simply love Windows for all the reasons above.

Ok, I am a Network Admin, I RDP into Windows machines, ssh into *nix boxes, configure CISCO equipment and many other things.

I have a Windows machine connected to my TV for media centre (rarely use MC) and games - as a console only.

I use my Mac Mini for and MacBook Pro for everything else.

Honestly what are you people doing on your machines running servers and doing 3D animations? Most people use computers for games, mail, web, IM when they are at home.

Nah I have been using Apple for about 3 years now, pretty happy with not needing to use a Windows machine as my main desktop machine :)

That's a common question Mac users ask PC guys. I run BOINC, transcode video, game @ 1080p, use two monitors (never going back to one) and love to build my own. You can't hide from the fact that the same hardware costs more in a Apple computer. This is a fact. This is not opinion. I didn't just make this up. You will pay more for the same parts in the Apple. Apple computers cost more for the same hardware. Apple uses the same hardware as a PC, but charges more. You can get a better speced PC for less than a Mac. I hope it's starting to sink in.

I have an i7 PC running Windows 7 and I also have a Unibody MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard. I actually prefer Windows due to the fact that in OSX I get the constant pinwheel and it takes forever to do anything when I try to multitask. I know I am comparing a desktop to a laptop, but it is still annoying me enough to not want to use my Mac as much as I would otherwise.

Face the facts, Apple over-charges for the same hardware. If it's worth it to you to spend more for the OS, go ahead. Just don't pretend not to notice the MASSIVE Apple Tax.

Is there some gold ring that comes with that setup, or what? How the hell did they managed to reach 3k for that :huh: ?

The most expensive part, is the CPUs and they only cost 750$ (that's for both of them).

Now the HDD (640GB) goes for 70 bucks, 6gb of RAM 120$. Never heard about that card, but by the model I'd guess goes for about 80$, so is the mouse (that I have no idea what's the deal with it), so I'll throw a Logitech G5 for 50$ with a random media keyboard for 30$. And I'm guessing the user guide is free.

Oh, and I guess the SuperDrive is a regular DVD-ROM reader, so that's an extra 20 bucks. And I'm also guessing motherboard is included in that Apple's list (because we need to connect all these parts to somewhere), so I'll add an extra 500 dollars for the MB, and what not (a few games, and a gamepad/wheel for them).

So that's in total what, 1600 dollars? Not even close to Apple's figures!

Exactly. No RAID, no dedicated sound card, Crappy video card that's about on par with a 9400 GT.

This computer from Apple.com is about on par with mine (minus TV tuner card, external drive, and only one monitor), of course the two Xeons are going to be faster than my Q6600, but that does not justify the cost. Check this out...

I grew up with PC's. As an artist/designer I've always admired the look and GUI/UI of Apple products. They keep things simple, yet add subtle details that make it look really polished. A unified look and good information flow and structure in their UI.

...But I could never justify the cost of buying one and basically relearning the OS.

Besides, I'm happy with Windows 7 :)

Hmm lets see I spent over 3K for a laptop. What did that get me? 17" Screen, 1GIG Nvidia, 1900x1200 LED, 8Gig Memory, 1TB of RAID 0 7200rpm, DVD RW+/-, Backlit Keyboard, Finger Swipe , a few extras and a 3 year warranty. Umm I couldn't buy that from Apple. :) So no MAC here. Had a few never worried about price but i hated the fact they were always behind in specs to the rest of the world and upgrading was just silly costs. The UI is nice but I have grown to really enjoy Windows 7. I also run VMWARE with XP, Vista, Ubuntu and it's just sings along.

For the MAC fans enjoy just not for me.

May as well get a Mac because you sure as hell got ripped off on that Windows computer!!

Also,

I don't get a Mac because all 5 of my Windows machines work perfectly!

1) the lack of softwares and games, windows has tons of it, mac one or two options...

2) the limited hardware, i can always mount a better machine to run windows

3) hardware is overpriced, for the same money i can get a much better windows computer

but apple made some good looking shine devices :D

i am just not cool enough to own a mac :p

First lack of driver support for linux as trackpad is always problem while using linux in mac, and the cost, few upgrade Options. Software i probably use, are not available for MAC like weblogic, clearcase etc. And in India they lack basics like support(any), customization. Still here they are selling older MAC with high cost.And new MAC are not avail.

Macs don't enable me to do anything I can't already do and in many cases lack features such as Blu-Ray playback and require me to sink a significant amount of money into purchasing new hardware and software combined with lost value of my existing hardware and software. For me I'd be downgrading and paying a lot of money to do it.
