Best FPS for Wii

Recommended Posts

Hey

Whats the best FPS for Wii right now? It has to have offline multiplayer although Im not sure if that is possible...

Anyways Im asking for a fun FPS. Doesnt have to be serious, plot, etc. Could be about zombies, dogs, your mother, etc. Doesnt matter. Just your regular fun shoot-them-up FPS.

No, because it isnt the Wii's fault. It is the dev's fault that there are no FPS games for Wii.

The controller is not precise enough to make a good shooter if you think analog is inaccurate just wait until some developer tries making something like halo on wii it will be laughable.

With MotionPlus this "not precise enough" argument is even more invalid. If you know how to use the original Wii Remote, then it is great.

And BTW....Halo 2 was used with analog sticks and AFAIK it won 2 console game awards....

wait, what?

the IR is extremely precise, that's the bare minimum you need to make a shooter, the accelerometers are imprecise, unless you know how to work around their limitations.

i recommend you change your IR sensitivity settings, stop pointing your wiimote at the sun, sit still (if you are one of those people who tilts their whole body to the side when turning) and stop drinking coffee - they be givin you the shakes.

I can imagine when you go to the arcade and play a shooter, you complain to management that the gun doesnt have a d-pad and 4 triggers.

wm+ are gyros i think...

anyway, you dont need them for fps games anyway and it's not really supported by many games

i think a good offline multiplayer shooter is still far off... here is a list of the fps game available though. http://www.gamerankings.com/browse.html?si...er=&search=

What? the controllers not precise enuff? its near a bloody mouse in terms of speed. id argue that having to put in auto aim to most console fps due to there use of analog sticks pretty much counts as "not being precise" enuff. lets say the Wii isnt precise enuff, wouldnt they then add Auto aim like they do elsewhere?

Seriously , oh and Halo 1 would probs run fine on a Wii. Wii can handle FPS games the hardware does allow it, it could run Quake3 engine games or something like that. The only point made is it cant handle much of todays Gfx blowouts, with there effects etc. thus how Wii gets special versions of COD games etc.

The only thing laughable in this thread is some folks sheer ignorance

Also i believe the Conduit is essentially a dev making something like Halo on the Wii. Oh wait its out and is one of the best games on the Wii.......

The Conduit is one of the best showcase peaices for the Wii as it shows off what the Wii cant do out of the box but with the right Developers the Wii can shine for graphics and control system and the Conduit is great at that . a Game built from the Engine up with doing the best they can to deliver next gen console graphics to the Wii.

Quote from Wiki about the Quantum 3 engine made for the Wii:

Quantum3 is a Wii-specific game engine developed by High Voltage Software.[8] The engine itself had been used in several previous titles made by the developer, but was heavily upgraded for higher performance on the Wii.[9] This engine allows for "full 16-TEV stage material pipeline using up to eight texture sources and a host of innovative blend operations," and "allows the developer to create graphic effects normally seen on other consoles with vertex and pixel shaders." These effects include bump-mapping, reflection and refraction, light and shadow maps and projections, specular and Fresnel effects, emissive and iridescent materials, advanced alpha blends, gloss and detail mapping, motion blur, interactive water with complex surface effects, and animated textures, among other things.[10] The Quantum3 engine also includes advanced artificial intelligence, allowing for NPCs and enemies in a game using the engine to possess "human-like behavior." According to Chief Creative Officer Eric Nofsinger, "Our [High Voltage Software's] goal is to be the most technically innovative Wii developer on the planet."[10]

    • Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
