No. Absolutely not. Secularity is on the wane since AKP took power. It's a fundamentalist islamic party practicing taqiyya towards europe whilst at the same time trying to reinstitute a theocracy.

treatise on present day Turkey: http://www.meforum.org/2047/islamists-approach-europe

quote:

Moderate Islamists want to Islamize, not democratize.[41] They are committed to the procedure of democracy but not to its pluralistic and peaceful political culture. Political Islam in Turkey is an important issue for Europe. Turkey not only has close relations to the West, but it also has a diaspora of more than four million in the European Union.[42] While many moderate Muslims seek to Europeanize Islam, the Islamism practiced by the AKP is an ideology of cultural divide, tension, and conflict, despite all of the pro-Europe rhetoric in which Islamists in Turkey engage in their pursuit to exploit the European Union for their agenda of Islamization.

Turkey has nothing to do with Europe. Their lack of culture and barbarism doesn't have any place in a civilized continent. Turkey belongs to Asia...If someone is from Turkey and reads that, I am sorry but the majority of turks is like that...(and live in Asia!). The only part of Turkey that geographically belongs to Europe was taken from the Greeks...

The more ridiculous point is why Israel are allowed to act like they are part of Europe, they even participate in the damn Eurovision song contest. So before some people harp on a bout secular Islam, try having a look at the Jews as well.

Israel doesn't belong to Europe...I don't think they belong anywhere...

Anti Semitic much?

and for the earlier post crying about Israel being in the Eurovision... that has NOTHING to do with politics. It's down to a countries TV stations choosing to be a member of the EBU

What? Israel is only affiliated to Europe in regards to sport competitions/events and the eurovision, but it ends there.

Israel has no plans or wishes to join the EU or anything like that.

btw Morocco and Turkey participated in the Eurovision as well .

I'd say Israel belongs to the Middle East but yea... that is kind of a problem.

I wouldn't mind if Israel didn't exist. I don't mind if they do exist. I really don't care about them.

Israel has preferred trade partner status. As for the eurosong festival it has nothing to do with the EU, (which is meant by the poll question) so who cares?

I guess Growled represents the 12 voters. And on first hand his comment seems logical.

But one should notice that Turkey has well over 76.000.000 inhabitants,

https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/th...ok/geos/tu.html

making it the second largest nation in the EU.

Since the EU gives the votes on the base of population size, it would give Turkey an enormous presence in the European council, European Committee.

Think well, do you really want to hand that much influence on a platter to fundamentalist islamic government?

No more than I want germany to have the power they do in the EU.

but they do and they are that big so, there you go. properly motniored legal elections are part of the requirements for Turkey to join.

so if those are the wishes of the turkish people... how is that different fromt he wishes of the german, or french or italian or english people ? because they're evil muslims ?

Because Turkey has no democracy. The military rules there and controls the goverment. Because Turkey has taken half Cyprus. Because Turkey wants to take some islands from Greece. Because Turkey has slaughtered millions of Armenians.

DO YOU WANT MORE REASONS? READ A BIT OF HISTORY!

They are uncivilized, with no intentions of living in freedom and peace. They want blood and they also want to take over Europe.

I live in Germany and I See them every day here. They don't integrate, they don't respect anyone, they don't accept other religions and they are dirty and barbarians. I am sorry for the few Turks that are not like that. I am sure there are a few but the majority is as I described.

PS: Istanbul's real Name is Constantinople and it was GREEK. Learn HISTORY

Turkey has only one goal: To destroy Europe's culture

How do you dare to think like that? Think again! Read a bit before you say the things you say. I have met so many Turks that I can have an opinion about them and I will never ever accept them as long as they remain the way they are...

Yes, how do I dare not share your narrowminded xenophobic views.

I have met a lot of turks to, and honestly, just from that one rant, I trust everyone of them more than you.

speaking of history.... glass houses and all that.

Probably, but you haven't met their leaders though:

http://www.meforum.org/2047/islamists-approach-europe

The AKP, however, does not accept Europeanization. Rather, AKP leaders pursue a double strategy: They verbally dissociate their party—and themselves—from political Islam while simultaneously embracing Islamic identity politics and, like many Islamist parties across the globe, also engaging in anti-Christian polemics.[16] The AKP uses education as its major instrument to further Islamist identity politics, introduce reinvented Islamic values, and de-Westernize society. And while the AKP claims secular credit for pursuing Turkey's EU membership, it defames Europe as an exclusionary "club of Christians."[17] Since its November 2002 accession, the AKP has engaged in a "creeping Islamization."[18] The AKP has sought to further this through politics of cultural Islamization, especially in education and media. Erdoğan has worked to expand Anatolian culture in the cities, helped by internal migration. The slums and shanty towns have become the AKP's chief base of support.

Xenophobic Views? Tell that to the millions that were killed by Turks. Tell that to their relatives.

I have no problem with Turks that are civilized and accept other cultures. They are unfortunately the exception...

PS: I was born in Cyprus and I am Greek. My parents have lost their house because barbarians (Turks) took over half of Cyprus. They killed, raped and slaughtered people. You live in a country that never experienced such violence and have never seen things like that. I understand where you are coming from but I suggest you go and visit Armenia and Kurdistan...After that go to Cyprus and see for yourself.

I have a Cypriot passport and I am an EU citizen. Despite of that I am still not allowed to go to Turkey! The reason? Turkey says that they are in a state of war with Cyprus!

If you still want them in the EU, then you are dangerous and an IDIOT

I hope you will at some point understand how mistaken you are. I hope it won't be though when Turks rape and kill all of your family, just because you are not a Turk

you need an effing clue.

and if we're going to go by history, I think there are nations already in the eu that have bigger historical issues.

You don't understand! Their history is also their present!!! They haven't changed!

If they had, I wouldn't have any problem accepting them as a land, although I still believe that Turkey is an asiatic country. Don't let the few civilized Turks fool you...Don't do that mistake

you need an effing clue.

and if we're going to go by history, I think there are nations already in the eu that have bigger historical issues.

Well i don't go by history, i go by present day. And since Turkey's double agenda is plain to see i prefer they stay firmly entranced in the middle east, the governments political stance has much more in common with the theocracies there and absolutely nothing in common with then EU's.

Secularism is barely on their agenda, the military have been sidetracked by EU cultural relativists so offer no more protection.

And furthermore Turkey adds nothing of any consequence to the EU except a desire to feed from the EU's gravytrain.

And those which dream of a positive role Turkey could play in bridging the ravine between the two cultures should better take notice of what Turkey's leader actually DO and less of what they SAY.

The more ridiculous point is why Israel are allowed to act like they are part of Europe, they even participate in the damn Eurovision song contest. So before some people harp on a bout secular Islam, try having a look at the Jews as well.

lol when was the last time a plane was flown into a building in the name of judaism?

My vote is no, until they can prove they are cleaning up their act, and sorting out their Human rights issues then no.

you need an effing clue.

and if we're going to go by history, I think there are nations already in the eu that have bigger historical issues.

No, you do.

I have been to and love Turkey. I think the people there are very moderate compaired to other Islamic cultures.

However, they still have their large share of Islamic nut jobs who like to blow things up in the name of Islam in order to repress the masses.

Do i think Turkey should be allowed in the EU? No. They are nice to visit and are doing well with their economy, partly thanks to the fact that they dont follow a state of Sharia and dont do their money matters according to Islamic laws, however, they are still Islamic and would open up the flood gates for illegals from other countries to claim they are Turkish to gain access to the UK (namely illegals who want to gain access in order to push their violent and repressive agenda).

We have enough Islamic mad men in Europe and the West as it is and dont need any more thanks.

However, it says in both the Bible and the Qu'ran, that the East will rule the west i believe? Therefore, they will likely be allowed to join the Eu and will likely further press the agenda to make this biblical and religious prediction come true.

    • After enabling it in about:config, customize, density, compact; the toolbar/address bar gets smaller vertically. I enabled Nova, I notice the tab bar/title bar is a bit larger vertically now? Everything always becomes a waste of space.
    • Microsoft's Copilot Cowork now generally available with usage-based billing by Pradeep Viswanathan Back in March, Microsoft first revealed Copilot Cowork, a new agentic AI experience in Microsoft 365 Copilot through which users can assign tasks to AI to complete in the background. After testing the service with a limited set of customers in Research Preview for a few weeks, Microsoft announced the general availability of Copilot Cowork to customers in the Frontier program on March 30. Today, Microsoft announced the general availability of Copilot Cowork worldwide for Microsoft 365 Copilot customers. The company also highlighted that Cowork became the fastest-growing feature in the history of its Frontier program. Unlike regular Copilot Chat, Copilot Cowork can run complex, long-running, multi-tool tasks from start to finish in the cloud by using organizational context through Work IQ. When compared to Claude Cowork, Microsoft claims that Copilot Cowork will be 30% to 40% cheaper on average with its Microsoft 365 connector. For now, Copilot Cowork runs on Anthropic models, including Opus 4.8 and Sonnet 4.6. However, Frontier customers can now use GPT-5.5. Microsoft also announced Cowork 1, a secure fine-tuned model coming in the next few weeks, which is designed to handle everyday Copilot tasks at a lower cost. To access Copilot Cowork, a Microsoft 365 Copilot user subscription is required. Usage is billed separately through Copilot Credits, based on model use, context retrieval, tool calls, and runtime. Pay-as-you-go pricing is set at $0.01 per Copilot Credit. To offer IT teams full control over usage costs, Microsoft provides spending limits, usage alerts, user-level controls, reporting, and prepaid usage plans for organizations. Usage-based billing begins today. However, Frontier customers who used Cowork between March 30 and June 16 will not be billed until July 1, 2026. The Microsoft 365 Copilot app now includes a toggle to enter the full Cowork experience. Microsoft is also adding partner plugins, with Enosix, Harvey, LSEG, Miro, monday.com, Moody’s, Morningstar, S&P Global Energy, and TeamsMaestro available now. Adobe, Atlassian, Box, Canva, Databricks, and others are coming soon.
