Transformers: Dark of the Moon (Transformers 3)

Recommended Posts

Having a transformer the size of a planet just wouldnt work, how would you incorporate the fight scenes? If he is in it, he will be a lot smaller.

Maybe he could of been a size of a Transformer but is able to 'attach' himself to a larger one to become the planet eater?

I'm not sure if Michael Bay would want to make fans up set by doing that, LOL. He would really commit Blasphemy. Also, it would be ridiculous if they'd do that IMO. Plus, wouldn't the Autobots and Decepticons need LOADS of companions? Wouldn't it be odd seeing loads of Transformers on each side all of a sudden? There would be too much of a gap to fill inbetween 2 in 3 if that would be the case. And I'm not sure everyone would want to be forced into reading the comic books before watching the movie.

OK, I just went through the teaser trailer in 1080p frame by frame, and there are a LOT of different transformers shown, if you actually take the time to look (many more than people have been mentioning here). Here are my notes, along with the timeframes that they appear:

1:17-1:19 - Very clearly Optimus Prime's head sideways (note shape of face and antennae on head)

1:25-1:27 - Unidentified head (maybe Ironhide or Jazz) and either an arm or leg

1:30-1:32 - Two different Transformers - one head with shoulders and arms in lower right and one head in upper left of frame (both unknown)

1:33-1:35 - At least 2 Transformers - same head as last on left side of frame, one head and torso in top center frame, possibly one more top right frame (lying down)

1:38-1:39 - Head in center left of frame and hand hanging down above the head of the lefthand astronaut

1:55-1:59 - large head in upper right of frame then panning down into hole to show full body of yellow Transformer

2:01-end - zoom in on yellow Transformer's face

It seems to me that the Autobot's ship crashed on the dark side of the Moon on their way to Earth (following the trail of Megatron, who was already under the Antartic ice cap). In 1969, the earlier Apollo missions noticed the wreckage on the Moon, and then investigated the wreckage in person on the Apollo 11 mission (which is shown in the trailer). The actions of the astronauts somehow woke the ship up (maybe just waking up the yellow Transformer who set to work repairing the rest). They eventually made it to Earth in the events of the first movie.

Also, note that in the final two clips, we have NO sense of scale to go by, so the yellow guy could very well be MUCH larger than people are imagining.

The first face you're talking about could also be Ultra Magnus I assume. We can all guess what is what about what we're seeing in the trailer. But it's all kinda pointless really :p

The first face you're talking about could also be Ultra Magnus I assume.

It is possible, but the face is far more similar to Optimus Prime than Ultra Magnus. Remember, this scene takes place in 1969, long before the events of the first movie, so Optimus Prime has not yet arrived on Earth.

It should also be noted that the yellow guy appears to be seated in what looks like a pilot's chair, lowered into a circular depression (maybe a cockpit).

Here are some screenshots from the scenes I described above, with each of the heads or bodies outlined to be easier to pick out:

The only problem with the Optimus Prime argument is Optimus' face doesn't look like that until he scans a truck. When he first arrives on earth he doesn't have antennae and his face looks diferent.

The only problem with the Optimus Prime argument is Optimus' face doesn't look like that until he scans a truck. When he first arrives on earth he doesn't have antennae and his face looks diferent.

Well, that could simply be a continuity error (God knows movies are full of them), but we never really do get a clear look at what his face looked like before scanning the truck, as far as I remember (and no, the protoform toy doesn't count, since it doesn't look anything like Optimus Prime does in the movie, before or after scanning the truck).

"Optimus Prime than Ultra Magnus" so you have seen the Ultra Magnus from this storyline? If you've read some of the comics, you should know that Ultra Mangus has had Optimus Prime's look in some. Calling it a continuity error to make it look like it's Optimus Prime is somewhat odd while not having even seen the movie :s

Here's Optimus Prime in protoform before he scanned the truck:

Movie_OptimusPrime_protoform.jpg

All we're doing is just guessing anyways. It might as well be Ultra Magnus as it could make sense that he was trying to stop Megatron on Earth. Maybe him and fellow Autobots knew about Megatron's whereabouts and wanted to stop him from getting the AllSpark.

All we're doing is just guessing anyways.

Very true. However, where are YOU getting the idea that Ultra Magnus is even going to be in this film? Nothing I've read outside of this thread has even hinted at him being in it. And thanks for that image of protoform Optimus Prime. I had tried locating one, but all I could find was images of the toy. It still isn't that definitive though, since we are only seeing the left side of his face, and in the trailer it does appear that the first Transformer doesn't have the antenna on that side when he is uncovered.

One should be able to see a tip of the right antenna in the image with Protoform Optimus Prime tbh :p No one knows which Transformers are going to be in it. My guess about Ultra Magnus is the same as the guesses about Alpha Trion and Unicron. Some new ones are a fact, some aren't. It's why I said that all we can and are doing is guess.

I could ask the same question like you did; where's everyone getting the idea that Unicron is even going to be in this movie?. Where's everyone getting the idea that Alpha Trion is even going to be in this movie?

1:17-1:19 - Very clearly Optimus Prime's head sideways (note shape of face and antennae on head)

I'm not sure that's Optimus. Take a look:

post-15711-0-76135500-1293400914.png

You're right about not having anything to campaire the sense of scale to; the last robot could be much bigger in fact. Much, much bigger!

What if the whole Moon is Unicron, laying there dormant for millions of years, collecting space dust?

I know this may sound stupid, but if it is Unicron, he doesn't look "evil", this guy looks like a good guy since he doesn't really have the visual characteristics to be someone bad i.e. Megatron. Hollywood aren't afraid to make bad guys look bad and good guys look good.

I'm not sure that's Optimus. Take a look:

Take a look at what? That is the same as the image I posted above (although I cropped and rotated it). I compared it to every image I could find of Optimus Prime from the other movies (other than the protoform image, as we discussed above), and the general shape and features are a dead match for him, other than missing the antenna on the left side of his head.

One should be able to see a tip of the right antenna in the image with Protoform Optimus Prime tbh :p

Not necessarily, due to the camera angle in that shot. And, although I certainly don't consider it definitive, the protoform Optimus Prime toy DOES have antennas, although they are shorter than those of the regular movie version.

lol. So if the toy doesn't support your theory it doesn't count, but if it does support you, it suddenly does count :p

Great analysis, roadwarrior. My guess is that the transformer shown in the first image (where a head is shown sideways) is Ultra Magnus. I've looked around the web and did a rough comparison of that head, Ultra Magnus, and Optimus Prime (as he was protrayed in the two Transformers movies). With Optimus Prime, the antennae on the side of his head are slightly angled inward. Ultra Magnus has antennae as well; however, they are straight.

Quick links: Windows 10 and 11 Windows Insider Program Updates are available Reviews are in Gaming news Great deals to check Windows 11 and Windows 10 Here, we talk about everything happening around Microsoft's latest operating system in the Stable channel and preview builds: new features, removed features, controversies, bugs, interesting findings, and more. And, of course, you may find a word or two about older versions. Windows 11 version 26H2 is now official. Alongside Windows 11's new preview builds released this week, Microsoft confirmed version 26H2, which is coming later this year as an enablement package based on the same platform as versions 24H2 and 25H2. A newly published blog post details what IT admins should do to prepare for the upcoming launch. Next, we have new Windows 11 bugs. Users report that this month's security updates for Windows 11 cause all sorts of issues, including BitLocker bugs, OneDrive issues, black screens of death, and third-party integration in Office apps. Microsoft has not confirmed those yet, but it acknowledged other issues with its operating system. What Microsoft has confirmed is a bug where Recycle Bin delete prompts display internal file names instead of actual ones, and a year-old Windows JScript compatibility bug caused by security-focused engine changes. Moving to more positive news, Microsoft and Adobe are working on improving Windows performance in popular creative apps like Photoshop. Thanks to SPGO optimizations, users can expect up to 20% better performance. Finally, we have a few useful articles that can help you recover your PC or make it perform better. For one, we published a guide detailing what to do if your computer cannot boot after a clean Windows 11 install. There are two important steps you can try to get your system back to working in no time. Additionally, there is a more detailed guide on various CPU performance modes that could notably improve performance. Updates are available This section covers software, firmware, and other notable updates (released and coming soon) delivering new features, security fixes, improvements, patches, and more from Microsoft and third parties. This week, Microsoft announced its newest Surface devices powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon X2 processors. There is the 12th-gen Surface Pro and the 8th-gen Surface Laptop. Both devices feature little to no visual differences compared to their predecessors from 2024, and most changes hide inside, including a better processor, faster graphics, enhanced NPUs, and more. The Surface Laptop also received a new haptic trackpad. Mozilla is currently working on a major Firefox redesign, and earlier this week, it published a roadmap of upcoming features and highlights of the upcoming "Project Nova" rework. Files, one of the best file managers for Windows 10 and 11, has been updated in the Preview channel with a long-requested feature. Tree View is finally available in version 4.1.4, allowing you to quickly browse deeply nested folders without leaving the main view. In addition, the update improved the Windows Fonts folder, allowing you to preview each font without opening the default viewer. Rufus, another useful Windows 11 utility, also received a notable update. Version 4.15 arrived as beta with important fixes for silent Windows 11 installation. It also includes patches for ARM-based Windows PCs, OneDrive removal improvements, and more. Reviews are in Here is the hardware and software we reviewed this week Earlier this week, we reviewed the DuRoBo Krono, a portable, phone-sized e-reader with some interesting physical controls. This device has an Apple Watch-like dial for page turning, frontlight adjustment, and more. Software is simple and no-nonsense, but it also lacks some useful features and customization. Overall, the device proved interesting, but not flawless. On the gaming side Learn about upcoming game releases, Xbox rumors, new hardware, software updates, freebies, deals, discounts, and more. Forza Horizon 6 received two big updates this week. Alongside the Series 2 content update, developers pushed plenty of bug fixes and balancing tweaks. However, they also had to acknowledge the Eliminator CR-farming exploit and shut down the online mode temporarily. Luckily, only a few days later, another fix arrived, which re-enabled Eliminator and patched the exploit. Microsoft announced new games for Game Pass subscribers. Those include EA Sports FC 26, Junkster, Call of Duty: Vanguard, Abyssus, RV There Yet?, and more. Some existing games are leaving the catalog, so be sure to check out the full list here. New games are also available for GeForce NOW subscribers, and they include Embers of the Uncrowned Demo, Aphelion, Megastore Simulator, OPERATOR, Citizen Sleeper, and more. Rockstart Games had plenty of GTA-related news this week. For one, the company gave GTA V players another free update. Those still playing the game on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are no longer required to pay $40 to upgrade to the latest-gen version. More importantly, Rockstar Games revealed the GTA VI cover art and announced the preorder date. The Epic Games Store is giving away two games: Citizen Sleeper and Roboeat.
