As far as I'm aware, Jetfire and Skyfire are one and the same.

Yes they are....there was a goof up with the naming convention. The original g1 toy was jetfire, the original g1 cartoon character was skyfire.

It was originally copied off of a robotech valkyrie and thrown into the transformers universe as jetfire. I believe it was based off a us fighterjet the F-14 Tomcat.
