SaT117
So I saw quite a few people liked my Windows 7 concepts, and well now win7 is out and everyone is happy. Microsoft has started to work in Windows 8 the one that we all hope will bring Longhorn back to life, so with this in mind let me introduce you to my new concept. I hope you all like this. http://saturnliberty.ardcorp.tv/ww-EN/Uplo...ublic/DMGSpace/ Edited October 23, 2009 by SaT117 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/837030-my-windows-8-concept/ Share on other sites

Mannlich
Not for me. Looks like nothing more than a skin slapped on windows 7 -- I don't really see anything different. ilike2burnthing
media player built into the explorer, very nice. the title bar for the desktop premium is a lil too thick and the X button is too long. as stated in a previous comment, there isn't much different, a lot of this could be done in a VS Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/837030-my-windows-8-concept/#findComment-591746598 Share on other sites
Stokkolm
Do you really think they're going to change the UI that much, of course it's going to look similar. Just like Windows 7 looks like Windows Vista. On topic, I think the log in screens are very nice, well done. y0sh
I like your work! But don't you think Windows 8 will have a different GUI? You've made some improvements but it still looks a lot like Win 7 (actually I think your taskbar is more vista-ish than 7ish). I'm into constructing future OS concepts too, so I'll finish my Win8 concepts and publish them here. I've made the OS look a lot different, though. Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted October 24, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted October 24, 2009 Looks decent, but too much eyecandy for me I do however, like the start menu (Y) I wish Windows 7 was like that, but the text might be hard to read depending on certain backgrounds Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/837030-my-windows-8-concept/#findComment-591748964 Share on other sites
Zain Adeel
o man!!!.. love the loading screen... awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeee... but to be true the rest is just like a skinned win7 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/837030-my-windows-8-concept/#findComment-591749042 Share on other sites
Pharos
It actually looks great. :) BUT on a functional point of view, this will never work. Too much going on there, too many effects, angles, gradients, etc. I'm glad this is only a concept and will NEVER materialize. primexx
we don't "all" wish to bring longhorn back to life. and your concepts aren't really any different from win7. I suppose all these bad "concepts" are compliments to microsoft in a wierd way, in that they've done such a good job that third parties can't come up with anything better anymore. Lol, I've found that too. Never bothered about skinning Vista or 7. It looks fine the way it is and I see no need to worry about slowing down the system or having visual bugs etc etc. On the other hand, I like creativity. Aren't Microsoft re-writing Windows from the ground up for 8? Kinda the reason why 7 had to be a major success. I do like the login screens though SaT117. Did you plan for the dp to spin around like in the Longhorn concept? Not a big fan of the borders though especially with the close, minimise, maximise buttons, they don't really fit in. Anyways, keep it up! Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/837030-my-windows-8-concept/#findComment-591828448 Share on other sites

ccoltmanm
If you are posting concepts, take away the desktop. No one cares what the wallpaper is, we care about the changed being made.
