Taking private browsing to the next level.

Another item to note for not leaving data behind is Flash "Local Shared Objects", found in ../Documents and Settings/username/Application Data/Macromedia/Flash Player/#SharedOjects which list the sites that they came from.

The only safe way I have is using TOR or some proxy service.

This guide is to help you to keep people from snooping on your browser activities locally on your computer. This is not meant to keep you anonymous on the internet. I call it taking private browsing to the next level because I'm comparing it to the private browsing feature most of the browsers have. In that regard this give you so much more privacy with none of the sacrifices.

Nice tutorial, have one for private browsing on a shared LAN (f.ex. college network) where people might be able to snoop on data going through the LAN? I know people tend to do ARP Poisoning in my college.

If you're on a shared computer, the best thing to do is to boot into a separate OS. Install the OS onto a separate partition or device (flash drive). Then encrypt it and configure it to use a proxy / VPN.

Personally I use a virtual machine stored on an encrypted drive, and on my own machines only. No need to erase any traces, just shut it down, unmount the drive, and that's it.

Or you could just man up and tell your wife that you watch porn.  It's better than going through this much trouble to keep it a secret, :P

Seriously though, nifty guide, :-)
