game_over
I placed an order for the new iMac yesterday morning and my status is still 'not shipped yet' how long does it usually take them to ship the item? I know i ordered it on a sunday but i was expecting it for tomorrow (tuesday) ... there was no quick delivery option so i guessed it would just be a day. I also used my educational discount, but going through the buying process on the site i wasn't asked to prove my educational status... surely they must require some sort of ID? Hendrick
In the US anyways, I went to my local Apple Store over the summer to buy a Macbook Pro. All I needed to prove I was a student was my college acceptance letter. I have multiple of those from all the colleges I applied too, so I'm not sure how that verifies me as a student, but that's all that was required. Did you use an e-mail address through your school? No, i signed in using my itunes account (@gmail.com) and it took the payment straight from my card assigned to that account. I have my works (i work in a school) ID scanned in and ready to upload/send but it wasn't requested at any point of the checkout process. They have also taken the payment. Fid
I would give them a ring just to make sure. When I ordered from the educational site (in the UK), one of the sales guys said he would e-mail me so I could send him proof (i.e. a scan) of me being a student. He didn't send that to me so I had to chase them up. So I definitely suggest ringing up and just finding out, who you send the proof off to and what not. Vice
If you customised the machine your looking at 2 weeks. If its a 'stock' machine then 5 days to a week.
game_over
I've just checked my e-mail and i've got the "Your Apple Order Has Been Shipped" confirmation... further inspection mentions UPS and tracking numbers also that it should arrive on or before 27/10/09 between 9am and 5pm so hopefully it will turn up tomorrow I wonder why they haven't asked for proof of my educational status, maybe the agent dealing with my order didn't care? lol! Either way i'm guessing since it's been handed over to UPS i need not bother phoning them. Ps. those shipping times mentioned above are pathetic for a company like Apple. game_over
Quick question, how long does it take for apple to take the payment? When i placed the order i checked my bank and i could see that apple had took the payment almost instantly. I received the iMac on Tuesday and when i checked my bank today they still haven't taken the payment. I also bought the iMac using educational discount store but wasn't asked to prove it at any stage of the buying process.. and shipping only took 1 day. Has anyone ordered off the education store and not had payment taken straight away? Note, i paid using my iTunes account, when i went to buy it i entered my e-mail address and it automatically recognised that account and my card assigned to it. I was only required to entered my 3 digit security code from the back of the card. Up-on completion i checked my bank account and the full amount had been deducted from my full balance.. available balance and account balance was less of the imac cost. But i've checked it today it looks like the payment has not been sent or it has been returned, there is no record of it on my invoice, and yes, the funds where and are available. Shaun N.
When It looked like that took the payment instantly that was them kinda checking the funds are there, That money then should be reserved on your account so that its not accessible. You might see the money but it shouldn't be showing as available funds.

game_over
yeah, after nearly 2 weeks. What would of happened if i decided to empty my bank account? they could of tried to take the payment, failed.. and i'd have still had a Mac. Surely this opens them up to a high risk of fraud? What's the worst they can do? request payment, you ignore them.. you will eventually get letter off some debt recovery agency
