Can't Initialize USB Harddrive

Recommended Posts

I have a usb harddrive that has files on it and was working perfectly, but after I installed Alcohol 120% I accidently assigned the virtual drive the same letter as the usb harddrive now my laptop won't read it. When I go Disk Management it shows up as a Not Initialized and when I right click on it, it won't initilize and says Device Not Ready. Is there a way i can make it work again without losing any of the files on it?

try disabling Alcohol? restart the computer?

try it on another computer, see what Disk Management says there

i just tried uninstalling alcohol and restarting and it's still not working on my laptop. I'm about to try it on my friends laptop.

...

When I went to disk management on the other laptop and i go to initialize disk it says the system cannot find the file specified. And it still can't read the hard drive

Go to the Disk Managment in the Computer Mangement (Right click on My Computer and choose Manage). First see if the USB hardisk is seen by the operating system. If so, try to change the drive letter for it, it may work that way.

let us know of the result.
