AFAIR for now, theres only Google Chrome version with some changes that may be special Google OS browser ;p... Anyway, i dont see anything worth in this, ghost project - it would be just another adsense source of information, maybe linux based imo ;p.

It's already announced to be Linux-based. The desktop will be custom-made thogh, so it won't be Ubuntu.

From the announcement:

Google Chrome OS will run on both x86 as well as ARM chips and we are working with multiple OEMs to bring a number of netbooks to market next year. The software architecture is simple — Google Chrome running within a new windowing system on top of a Linux kernel.

And actually answering to the OP question, no, no announcement has been made, and builds are so far not public.
