McCordRm
Let's start with the negatives: 1. Rogues are important. A pet peeve of mine is letting a chest go un-opened. And in this game, that's going to happen a lot until you get to choose your party members later in the game. (Or play as a rogue yourself) 2. Um... go back to #1 if you need more negatives. Some will tell you that the graphics in the game are sub-par. That's complete and total B.S. It's not photo-realistic by any means, but the graphics aren't so bad it's distracting, either... as some would have you believe. I wouldn't rate the graphics with, say, Far Cry which had the best foilage I've ever seen in a game, but I'm still fairly impressed overall. Take note, however, that if you click the option for blood and gore your characters will spend the majority of the game splattered with blood. The sound effects are sweet and the music is great. Need I say more here? Now to the gameplay... It ROCKS! The storyline is professional and engaging. If you're looking for a game to just quick-click through the conversation options I would suggest hitting the bargain bin for one of those $5 RPGs. This game is epic. Take the time to read everything and pay attention to the cutscenes. Bioware did NOT hold back, folks. Like a good movie, this game comes with some pretty quotable lines. My favorite so far is: "Watch yourself. First it's, 'Ooooo... I like you.' Then, ZAP. It's frog time!" Combat is a mixed bag. You can play on easy and pretty much let everyone do their own thing. If you choose any option past easy, however, be prepared to treat combat like a strategy game. Since I like strategy games it works for me. But don't think the game sucks just because of that. It doesn't. That would be like me saying romance novels suck just because I don't like them. Try telling that to the millions of women that read the damn things. It's either your cup of tea or it's not. And if you can handle the combat, some of the automatic finishing moves are sweet- slow-motion kills and beheadings are The Awesome. I would definitely give this game a 10/10. If you like RPGs in the least, this is a MUST HAVE. I'd have written more... but this is cutting into my play time. :)
Xenomorph
I thought the graphics were good. It has a lot of polish like what you saw in "Metroid Prime" on GameCube. Just doing something like opening your Inventory gives you a "swish" sound with the window zooming in, complete with motion-blur. The amount of locked chests has been bothering me as well. Maybe they are filled with junk. Who knows? I just know they are VERY tempting, and I keep thinking I should have made a Rogue. The locked chests are everywhere in the game! It feels like Neverwinter Nights 2 + Oblivion to me (more like NWN2). It has the same style of play as NWN2 (minus the D&D stuff), but with some of the interface elements of Oblivion. I've never played Balder's Gate, so I can't make the comparison there. Unlike NWN2, the camera in this is very good. I play with the camera right behind the character (WoW-style). It is like playing a more refined version of NWN2. Prettier, easier rules to understand (weapons and armor stats and numbers are more like WoW or something, instead of D&D), better control and camera, and much more adult-themed. Tons of blood and gore, plus more relationship/sex stuff. What I've had issues with: I play a Warrior, and just getting close to an enemy to attack is difficult. How? Well, when attacked, my party members run in to attack, and when I finally click something to attack, my character runs to the enemy and then stumbles around because a party member is in front of them! They stumble and try to get around a party member to attack. Meanwhile, my party members are giving and taking damage as my character is still struggling to get close enough to swing her sword. ViperAFK
Yeah I am a warrior and all the chests I cant get into **** me off. GREAT game so far though, I am usually not a huge rpg fan. But all the rpgs I love were made by bioware (especially mass effect) This game is great, the story is EPIC so far and its very addicting.
