[Official] Assassin's Creed 2

I did love playing through this game, once I had Finished and them Platinumed, I still wanted a lot more to do.

Definitely one of the best games this year for me.

Would we get a buddy that would appear and disappear out of nowhere like in Quantum leap? would be win, lol. :D

But I doubt they would go backwards in time, the way they are going is to slowly lead up to the modern day I would assume, and with how the game's free running mechanics work and the limits imposed, I don't think it could ever take place in say, New York etc, the buildings would be a little too big in general.

However a city like London, where a lot of the buildings are only a couple of stories high could work well, and the way Britons and a lot of European cities are set out, with terraced housing etc would work well for the free running around a city in the modern day.

Modern day? hmmm.. who would be Modern day Archers who roam the roof tops? lol.. They'll tell you to get down! LOL. Pretty sure also you can't blend with people.. are push people out of the way. They will look at you funny or call the police for sexual harrassement. lol.

I'm wondering how much the gameplay will change actually if it's set in modern day (or 2012), what if they bring guns to the table? that would seriously mess things up.

They have already brought a gun to the table ;).

I just finished it. I didn't bother to get the armour because I hated the tomb levels.

Pretty entertaining. I'm glad I didn't have to do any running missions etc because I hated that crap. Now only if they get rid of the tailing people missions. I just want to gib everything in sight.

Oh and why can't I gib civilians? :p

^ I got the armor. I thought the tombs were fairly fun, but some of the camera angles royally ****ed me off.

AC2 is FARRRRRRRRRRRR better than AC1. Probably my game of 2009 (I'm not quite done, but fairly close).

Good to hear, while AC1 was not my top game, I did have fun playing through it. But I tend to like the story in games more than or at least equal to the actual gameplay.

That being said, as I am waiting on this to hit PC before I buy it, it may just be my game of 2010, but it has some tough contenders, ME2, SC2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction are just a few of them.

Any word on the 2 bits of DLC yet?

Full info and release dates?

Not sure if it's officially dated, but the first one is supposed be released last week of January and the second one will be end of February, though I don't think they have announced official dates yet.

Funny to read mixed feelings about the tomb levels, as they were by far my favorite part of the game. I would have personally preferred a much larger focus on levels like them to be honest and way less assassinations since I never felt challenged by a single one. I would just ran like a mad man towards the main target, take them out, and run out like a mad man, and it worked every single time.

I would personally be all for a game of nothing but the tomb levels, about 10 hours long, and it would be perfect to me. Of course just my opinion, and it goes against the whole assassin part of the game, so does not make much sense in the grand scheme of things I know.

Finished the game. Wow what an amazing game, A LOT better than AC1. The ending was great and left me wanting more. Really looking forward to AC3.

The only thing that I hated a little was collecting the feathers.

Now I'm going to get the PSP game. :D

Never finished the first game, got maybe 60% of the way. Not sure if I should play the first one and finish it before playing this one... hmm

Same boat but I didn't go back to the original. I was confused for the first 10 mins of the sequel and don't fully still understand how AC1 ended after finishing the sequel but gameplay wise I don't feel like I lost a lot. Maybe I could go back and finish the original but I think it would feel pretty flat coming off the sequel.

Guess it would get me through until the DLC comes out.

    • I think you meant the "ntfs3" driver, but yes there have been a lot of fixes for it in this release and previous releases, not 100% sure if the issue you mentioned is fixed though. In any case, the new "ntfs" driver in 7.1 doesn't have that issue (at least, no reports of such have come thru), but your kernel needs to explicitly enable support for the new driver first (like how CachyOS kernel has it), and you need to edit your mount points in /etc/fstab to use "ntfs" instead of the other drivers.
    • Epic Games says Unreal Engine 6 will help developers "build content faster" using AI models by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Epic Games is rolling out the latest major update to Unreal Engine 5 today, and at the same time, the company also dropped some information on the next-generation version of the product, Unreal Engine 6. This was already revealed a few weeks ago alongside the new Rocket League upgrade reveal. The company says it is combining the features of Unreal Engine and Unreal Editor for Fortnite to create this new version of its popular media creation tool. On top of creating entire games, the new engine will also focus on letting developers operate large-scale live service titles more easily, whether by shipping content into their own ecosystems or into Fortnite. The use of large language models is also mentioned here, with Epic saying it will be a core part of the engine. "We see LLMs, generative AI models, and tools like Claude and Codex playing a central role in helping you build content faster while maintaining the creative control you need," adds the company. Here is the rundown of what's new about version 6 of Unreal Engine: With all these changes to the programming model, portability upgrades, and generative AI integration, Epic says the new version of the engine will "change a lot about how games are made." The company aims to ship Unreal Engine 6 into early access in late 2027, with a full release planned for 12-18 months later. Epic Games also dropped a lengthy blog post about the new Unreal Engine 5.8 update for game developers over here. The release is focused on delivering better performance, customization, and streamlined workflows for development teams. This will be the final major update for this version of the engine before Epic switches to focus fully on Unreal Engine 6's early access launch.
    • Watch Louis Rossmann's recent experience on YouTube about trying to get a warranty replacement from Samsung. It's crazy.
    • That is the thing, how many of these people don't realise they are using AI? If they use Google Search they have no choice but to use AI. So yes, maybe half of American adults do use and I expect a lot of Uk adults do to, but I bet most of them don't realise it. Myself, i avoid the rubbish.
    • They use FREE AI. They aren't paying for this meme-generating slopware...
