I have a MacBook Pro now, which probably has one of the best trackpads out there, and it is still useless. You can get absolutely no pixel-precision with it. My choices would be... Mouse > ThinkPad TrackPoint > touchscreen pen input > graphics tablet pen input > notebook pointing sticks other than ThinkPad TrackPoint > trackpad.
