Hi, I was using the wonderful StyleSelector (before located here or in this deviant's page but it seems now its defunct...) tool to change the visual styles fonts I've used in Vista to Tahoma 8 pt. It was a great simple tool that not only let you use unsigned themes but also override the font and font size used by theme on the fly without editing or changing preferences.

Now I switched to 7 it seems this gem doesnt work any more with new uxtheme service, or at least I could not get the StyleSelector service to install.

So this is a 2 part question:

- Anyone got StyleSelector to work in 7 somehow or is there any newer/patched/alternative version of such a tool?

- Is there any other way to change the style fonts?

I know I can change some of the fonts with advanced properties, I already did that, but as you already noticed too this doesnt change many of the visual style parts that are hard coded to Segoe UI.

Also I know I can substitute Segoe UI for Tahoma system-wide with a font rule but this will not change the size from 9 pt to 8 pt so that will not achieve what I really want.

From what I have googled it seems I would have to end up editing Aero's style fonts straight...

Has anyone already done this (Aero modded to Tahoma 8 pt)? Or anyone knows of a nice theme for 7 that is built with Tahoma 8 pt. fonts?

    • I know I won't ever be using it to make my game. I'd rather pay real humans.
    • Nah. For every indie dev that needs to create code for "stuff" or textures, it's a godsend enabler to possibly tackle a project that you may not otherwise. The end result and testing will tell the truth if everything works or doesn't, or a game is just mediocre slop, but now these tools are now there and it's the developer's duty to judge the outcome, and even more so for pro studios. And you gotta remember that they will be at an early stage.
    • whoosh my comment went over your head. Enjoy your notchless 3:2 OLED device
    • As a game dev, today was really depressing. They announced that Blueprints will be deprecated in UE6 to be fully replaced by their sh**ty Python-like Verse language... They also announced that 5.8 will be the last version of UE5 until UE6 comes out in MID 2029!!!! They have completely lost the plot.
