Why do people care?

I imagine dishelved obesse Fourty five year old dungeon and dragon fans fantasizing over Scully while flogging the dolphin to star wars episode 1 hiddens takes who live in their parent's basement as the only people who would have the time, no no, the capacity... to care about trivial ass things such as: "Macs Suck"

~I personally couldnt give a Rat's Eye about Macs but the flaming is annoying

Is it possible just to restrict only the mac thread for offenders?

Mac V PC is a retarded debate, one I'm not even remotely interested in. I just resent having to read such annoying elitism all the time, be it posts of sigs.

Don't judge all of us by one. He was just saying what he thought was right.

I personally have nothing against PCs, been using them for a long time, and I just switched. My only problem with them is that they get boring so fast. It's the same ol' beige box that sits under your desk, and it's the same ol' start button and start menu that you have to live with. There's no real creativity in the Windows OS. Sure, you can theme it, but it just doesn't feel right. Still feels boring and lifeless. Once again, I have nothing against PCs (for instance, I love Linux), but it's just a matter of the OS.

I think he was right on the money

Brains (and respect for the rules) are what keep Mac users from flaming Microsoft users. Brains are also what keep the vast majority of PC users from starting flame wars in here, and the Linux folk from starting trouble in the Windows forums. All PC users aren't the problem - we know this already - it's the one with too much time, not enough parental supervision, and some sort of mental inability to follow the rules and/or make reasoned statements that we have a problem with.

Brains keep everyone in line. If a Windows user ISN'T flaming Mac/Linux users then clearly they have the mental capacity to understand what the rules are and what accepted behavior is. The same is true for Mac and Linux users who follow the rules.

If you find Mac/linux users starting flame wars in the Windows group I'd argue that they have the same "problems" as the Windows users who start trouble.EDIT: and should be held to the same standards of accountability.

Can the trolling rule not be extended to other forums? IE the WB/VS forums, the WB forum is constantly trolled by WB/Stardock haters :( Just a suggestion anyway.

BTW think its a good idea in this forum, I dont contribute here, but I do read it.

For regular members of the mac section it would help a lot if you could label your topics consistantly to show they are mac related threads to cut down on confusion.

Would it not be more effective to add a label like Mac: infront of all the links on the main page when they link to posts inside the Mac forums? I wouldn't have thought it'd be that difficult to do and would cut down on the confusion at least....:trout:

The point is we shouldn't have to. Take a look at the forum tree at the top of the page before you decide to post your nonsense :rolleyes:. That'd be much easier.

sorry to be a little off topic but...flogging the dolphin? damn that sounds painful lol. While I don't own a mac now(had to get rid of my imac*cries*) I do respect Mac users and consider most to be 100 times more respectful than most pc users to other OS users.

For a long time now, there has been a problem with people coming into the Mac Section to basically do hit and run comments about how idiotic and stupid macs are, and this has lead to entire topics becoming flamewars and ending up locked. From now on, if you come into the mac section and make a comment that has nothing to do with the topic at hand and is just a flame, you will be immediately receiving a warning. If you have already had 2 warnings about trolling in here you will be set to restricted for 3 days.

For regular members of the mac section it would help a lot if you could label your topics consistantly to show they are mac related threads to cut down on confusion.

Is this rule still in effect? I've seen more than a handful of users run free after trolling here more than a few times. :rolleyes:

Believe me, we've dealt with quite a few. But the Report Post button *really* helps, so hit it whenever you see something's up. We usually are able to lay the smack down pretty quickly ;)

Can this also be done for the IE/Mozilla threads? Someone asked earlier about an IE problem and someone posted a response to get firebird... It only makes me want to do the same in Mozilla threads, so is that gonna be cracked down on if we report em?
