red.
So i installed SimCity 4 because it's still a great game but unfortunately because it's a bit old it doesn't seem to have any widscreen resolutions and ends up stretching the 4:3 resolution to fit my 1680 x 1050 monitor which i find annoying. I want to know if it's possible to force it to show in the proper resolution and have black bars showing on the sides. I was able to do this before with the NVidia software but now i've switched to a radeon GPU and i have to use the Catalyst Control Centre which i am unfamiliar with, i can't seem to find the option anywhere. edt: I'm not sure if this is the right section or not, seeing as it might be a software/gpu issue but it had to do with a game so i decided to put it here. If it's in the wrong section, can a mod please move it? Edited November 13, 2009 by red.
Andre S. Veteran Posted November 15, 2009 Veteran Share Posted November 15, 2009 You could just set it to widescreen. ;)
red.
Even better! But i also found a solution and i'll post it just in case: Open up CCC > Desktop and Displays > Right click monitor at the bottom and Configure > Image Scaling > Maintain Aspect Ratio. Due to a bug, this may be disabled for your native resolution so you have to change to a lower resolution, set the option and then switch back to your native resolution. It'll show as disabled again but it still works.
Dance.
"C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -CustomResolution:enabled -r1680x1050x32 From Dr_Asik's link.
