Subject Delta Posted November 20, 2009 Share Posted November 20, 2009 No, but they do get to control what hardware you're allowed to run Mac OS X on: running it on a non-mac creates to infringing copies (at least). The court specifically addressed modifications to mac os x including changing the boot loader. Changing the bootloader isn't a modification to OSX, the court's thinking on that matter is stupid. If you install an open source / free boot loader, and do so without modifying any of the OS code, I don't see the issue, you should be free to boot your OS using any method that you wish as long as you don't actively alter any of the actual code.
