[OSX86] Hardware for hackintosh computer

Recommended Posts

I may have already answered my own question, but I want to run it by a few people: to have hardware work on my OSX86 netbook (Gateway LT20) can I buy hardware already made compatible for a (real) Mac and expect to have it plug and play with my OSX86 install?

Well for the most part of it Yes and no, you would have to take a look at what hardware works with Mac OS X that would work out of box.

CPU : Intel Core Solo/Core2 Duo/Intel i7/i5

Intel I/O Controller Hub : ICH7/ICH8/ICH9/ICH10 "ICH9 was skipped by apple needs to be patched but still works"

Audio Chipset :?SoundMax?AD19xx,?Realtek ACLxxxx, SIGMATEL STAC 92xx

This is what you have to look at when getting hardware that will work with Mac Os x.?

It is not as easy as most people think you will only get smarter using a Hacintosh.???

If you're worried about it getting technical, I can strongly recommend this guide on Lifehacker.com.

I used the above guide, I have a Gigabye ep45-ud3 board, 8800GT 512, Core2Quad and everything works just great. Best of all with this guide, they've done all the fiddly bits for you :)
