Passed my CompTIA A+ today!

Thanks! Unsure yet, most probably N+ and S+.

Possibly CCNA/P and MCSA too. See how things go hey.

You'll have to finish your CCNA first and then go in for CCNP. I'd suggest getting good work experience after CCNA and then going for CCNP, there's real good money there. But I'd really suggest you choose a line before you plunge into CCNA et al, if you only want to pursue Networking as a career. There are other great options too now, CCVP et al, there is a great deal of choice.

MCSA and then MCSE! :) You should do it on Server 2008, Win7 is out too now.

But ah well, forget about all that for now and enjoy your A+! Are you working or a student?

Congrats, MCSA or further with MCSE is helpful. I went for my MCSE and got frightened by the NI tests and never took them. I can tell you honestly that certifications are an "in the door" bonus on the resume. Once your in the door its up to you to sell yourself. After that, certifications don't help you in the field.

Security will be huge in the years to come. I see those jobs taking off in the next decade if not now.

I've got my A+ and N+ certifications under my belt, working on an MCSE.

What I would suggest you do is look into the MCITP certifications, which will be replacing the MCSA/E in the future, as they focus on Server 2008 and Vista/7.

As far as a Cisco certification goes, wait to see what hardware your preferred employer uses. It is very likely they will be using Cisco, but there are other network solutions out there so you can't be too sure. It can be a potential talking point in an interview, asking what network infrastructure they use and if any of their engineers are certified in that hardware (if it isn't Cisco hardware).

congrats.

do they still use outdated terms on their tests like "zif socket" and "centronics" (as opposed to printer/scsi port)

i remember when i took mine, maybe 4 years back... they actually had windows 286 questions on that test. i sent a real nasty letter to the corporate and i think that might have done it xD
