iconboy
It's their service and they can ban people for modding their consoles. What I actually disagree with is M$ altering the console further so that even if a person with a banned 360 is playing offline their save games and other data become corrupted. That to me just seems malicious :( What makes me really uncomfortable about this thread is the number of people defending the "rights" of an uber mega corporation who has been proven time and again red handed using unethical business practices. Who told you that, all that happens is you can't install to the hard drive. Which I agree is a bit of a perplexing move, but it's just another deterrent. I guess they feel if the console is compromised, it might lead to people being able to mod consoles to allow people to play games off hard drives without discs, so they ban that ability to install on the console. To all the people yelling(more like crying) "not all mods are for piracy" the fact still remains a majority of moddders do so, so they can commit piracy so they have no choice but to ban all modded consoles so the chance of loopholes or methods to avoid detection methods a reduced to almost 0%. 99.9% of people modding their firmware done it for piracy* *Source - Common sense. 90% of those people then whine they never pirated or shouldn't have had this done* *Source - The other 9.9% man up and accept they broke TOS and got caught doing something illegal. The last 0.01%? Who knows, I just didn't want to say 100% like Detox only claims to remove 99.9% of bacteria.
AgentGray
boo frickin hoo. Don't mod your systems. Don't like that restriction? it's called building a PC.
Shadrack
There is a good compromise here. If you want to play and take advantage of XBL AND have a modded 360, buy two friggen consoles. Shoot, I picked up my XBox 360 Arcade from a deal at WalMart the other day for $99. But I think that modded 360's should be banned from XBL because they could potentially be cheating and I don't want to play with cheaters. (And the "honor" system doesn't work online...)
