VidER
Hi All. I have an LG laptop. It came with Vista when I bought in a couple of years ago. Lately I have installed Windows 7 Professional on it. Clean install not an upgrade. As soon as the installation was finished, I have noticed that I lost the laptop's audio. In the device management screen, everything looks OK. No issues or conflicts. The Audio card and speakers seem to be OK. No updates available. I assumed that it was a driver issue, although it does not say seem like it in the device manager. I contacted LG, and they said that they don't support Windows 7 on my laptop model (S1) yet. And I accepted the fact that I don't have audio. But today something strange happened! When I turned on the laptop this morning I was able to hear the Windows Start Chime. I tried to run some MP3s and some youtube pages and I was able to hear the audio without any issues. I had no idea how the issue was solved. But now it is back! No Audio at all. Nothing is muted, all the levers are on the maximum. But still. I can hear nothing! What can the issue be? Is there a way to trouble shoot it? Thanks. GusValentine
Right-click the speaker in the tray, Playback devices, Communications tab, tick "Do Nothing". This may not be the cause of your problem, but I have doubts about this feature's reliability; it's supposed to mute/lower other sounds when you're using telephony/conferencing apps such as messengers, Skype, etc. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/847706-audio-issue-with-windows-7-on-my-lg-laptop/#findComment-591876080 Share on other sites
M_Lyons10
I'm sorry to hear about your problem. I'm really not sure what to add. It's a shame that LG doesn't have updated drivers out yet. I hope it gets resolved soon. With that said, I didn't know that LG made laptops (And their website is horrible). Where do you shop for LG laptops? I didn't see them on any of the sites I was looking at. I was just curious what the quality was like. They look great and they work just as fine. Take a look here: http://www.lge.com/ae/it-products/notebook...sp?countryCd=ae They even make Netbooks. GusValentine
What's your exact sound chip and mobo chipset ? Did you have any audio problems under Vista? Install this even on Windows 7: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...b1-442d8712d553 Use Everest trial to find out exactly what hardware is inside: http://www.lavalys.com/products.php?ps=UE&...=en&page=48 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/847706-audio-issue-with-windows-7-on-my-lg-laptop/#findComment-591877546 Share on other sites

I never had any issues with Windows Vista. And even in Windows 7 I can't see any conflicts or issues on the device menu. But it does not work 90% of the times. Sometimes I hear the windows start chime, but nothing else. And sometimes I can hear music files normally. So the problem is inconsistent. GusValentine
If you haven't tried Realtek's own HD drivers, they do support Windows 7 32-bit/64-bit Try them, they do have an uninstaller if you wish to remove them: http://www.realtek.com.tw/ (very slow servers) http://www.majorgeeks.com/Realtek_High_Def...in_7_d5513.html I'm also using Realtek on-board audio with Windows 7 64-bit, and Realtek's own drivers, I have not had any problems at all.
