RAM problem "compaq presario f500"

I have been having problems with this laptop since the month I got it, 2 years ago, but recently It has been locking up (only in windows, not in ubuntu) then one day it froze, then wouldn't turn on, lights came on, then shut itself off, tried some things, then found out if I remove one stick of RAM, it works fine! I looked at the RAM slots, and they seem okay, even tried other sticks of RAM,

I don't Know what to do, there is a recall for when this happens, but HP told me it's to late for a free repair on my laptop,

Has anyone had a problem like this and/or know a way to fix?
