[VS] Win7-Blend for Windows 7

Recommended Posts

All I keep seeing with these windows 7 visual themes is different wall paper showing through the Aero to give you a different color. I'm just not seeing any difference between the different VS's other than wallpaper.

Look closer

this vs is very very subtly different, if I can be arsed I'll reply back with screen shots

it will be called Win7-Shine

post-285248-1259503724.jpg

this is gona be squared :)

and number 2... these are totally new borders with this white frosty shine to give it a curved look which im going for in my new theme as i will be using shiny gradients than flat stuff for the rest of the theme buttons and all :)

i hope u like it.. because the windows are final :) and yes.. even redid the shadow for unselected windows :)

I apologise if i came off as your work sucks, it doesn't. I wouldn't have the first clue on theming so anything anyone does is better then anything I can currently do haha.

All I was trying to say was that on first glance - there isn't anything that I can see that is different to any other theme out there. When you first apply it, it looks the same as standard Windows theme. - It wasn't until I moused around and clicked a few things that I noticed the subtle differences. Still, in this current form, this theme is not for me.

I will be checking out your squared theme thou when you make it, I love the Clearscreen one atm so if your one is anything like that, I may just jump ship to yours :)

Oh and your picture attachment is showing as a dead link :(

that is weird.. i know about the attachment problem but right now its showing to me all fine :)

anyhow

i was experimenting with the gradient thing i told u about for the menu bar and detail pane.. and here is a teaser :p

it would be something close to this ...

Loving the preview for the next theme Zain.

Here is what I think should be changed so far:

1. Lower border padding a bit. Not to 0, but to maybe 2-3?

2. Make the entire Superbar look seamless. Just make a very SLIGHT line separating the "show desktop" button and the rest of it. But the top of it should have the 1 pixel fixed like how we said with Win7-Blend. :)

3. You should design your own Start menu logo.

4. Font color, etc.

Obviously I know this is like an "alpha" build of your theme in the pic and I look forward to using it, like Win7-Fade. :) Keep it up buddy.

started working on it again..

changed the border a bit .. now the top line is not bright.. its like merged with the shade making it alot more sleeker..

i like this alot. and its gona be this way..

and i also reduced the effect of shade so unselected and selected arent so different.. but the difference will be in the buttons.. caption buttons :)

will work on all that later im just experimenting alot and thinking ideas to make it different yet subtle :)

Hey Zain,

Where can I get the background that's in the screenshot of your theme?

And also, how do I change the icon of the Start Orb?

Did you even bother to go to the DeviantArt page where you download it... gives you the backgrounds... gives you how to change the start orb. ;)

@Zain... thanks man! Can't wait to test it.

Once again, I have to say: Well done on Win7-Blend. I am using it right now. :D

I was just wondering if I could, with your permission of course, use the original Aero x64 file, modify it completely with all the Win7-Blend resources, thus making a 64-bit version of your theme for you? That way your new superbar buttons might work on Windows 7 64-bit.

Edited by WizardCM

well the bug is not because of the different files i think :)

coz ive already checked it

with x64 files and with all others i found and u know that i even had a tester but it just didnt work :(

anyhow i hope the next theme i do the superbar buttons work :)

    • Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
    • you can also do this with this tool: PowerSettingsExplorer made by mbk1969 at 3dguru forum.. I found it by accident researching on modern standby and annoying quirks of it in 2022
