Photographers, I call out for your help!

Hey Guys. I need your help. I like taking photographs and so and this photo just stuck in my head! I need to make something similar and I want to know, HOW do you do the effects in this photo? I mean the small blue-light thingies and with the ash falling down? I would be so glad if someone would help me :).

Is it done by using photoshop or is it done while the picture is taken?

easiest way is in ps.

Photoshop is the best to accomplish that, for the green dots as simple as set the color and size of the pencil, for the neon dots you need to create layers... I recommend you to youtube 'Photoshop How to...' there are great tutorials

What you specifically see in that photo is a fireworks though, and it's smoke from it and not ash. they also used a flash to illuminate the person

Well unless you can get similar fireworks and make sure you use them in a way which doesn't put your model at risk then PS is the way to go here. You could add the smoke in your shot though.

You could grab some smoke and dot brushes and put the smoke and the dots on different layers. The dots probably will need some sort of effect on them to get them to look neon.

Outer glow and inner glow would probably work. Just have to play around with the settings.
