Brian M. Veteran Posted November 24, 2009 Veteran Share Posted November 24, 2009 Hey, I'm looking at swapping the 500GB 5400rpm drive in my MacBook Pro (2.8Ghz 15" Aluminium) for an SSD - but to be honest, I haven't got a clue what's hot and what's not. Ideally, I'd like 256GB - I could probably get away with 128GB, but I'd prefer the extra space for Boot Camp. Any recommendations? I'd like to keep the cost down as much as possible, however, an extra ?50 or so for a higher quality drive won't be a problem. Cheers:)).
Pam14160
Intel X25. Just install one the other day and it is great, fast. Read up on them to ensure you get what you want. The Intel X25 was rated number one by PC Magazine.
shivs
I'm considering it too, but probably not until they come down in price a bit. Intel ones look the best at the moment... Saying that, if I did go with a SSD in my MBP I'd probably also get one of these: Optibay Along with a nice 500GB+ extra internal drive :)
