AT&T releases press release aimed at Verizon

Recommended Posts

AT&T has already sort of responded to Verizon by suing the telecommunications company for sounding misleading with their ads slamming the iPhone and AT&T’s poor 3G coverage. But just to set the record straight, AT&T has released a press release to “set the record straight” over the Verizon ads.

In the press release, AT&T calls itself the United States’ sole market leader while also mentioning that it doesn’t typically react to competitor’s advertisement; however, it said due to some recent ads from Verizon, hinting at the “There's a Map for That” and “Droid Does” campaigns, that it is going to “set the record" straight about AT&T’s wireless data coverage”.

Verizon really has the most subscribers in the U.S., but AT&T is making their point as it definitely transmits more data by being the exclusive carrier in the United States. With that being said, the carrier is also experiencing the most dropped calls in popular areas of the country due to its networks being overloaded with activity, especially in the heart of Silicon Valley.

AT&T goes on to continue to defend themselves over the “misleading” Verizon ads over 3G coverage. In the lawsuit, AT&T claims that consumers are being misled to believe that Verizon’s map shows AT&T’s coverage in its entirety and not just 3G coverage.

The Verizon ads clearly state the maps are 3G coverage; there's no confusion there. AT&T is just ****ed because they didn't anticipate someone calling them out. If you can't stand behind your company's service, perhaps it's time to reevaluate that service.

They really have, I have AT&T and, at this point, the only reason is because Verizon doesn't operate in Alaska and the local carriers can't offer me a national calling plan that is as good as AT&T's. I would definitely have a Motorola Droid if I was in the contiguous US.

the verizon ads clearly say 3G Coverage under the AT&T maps... how is this misleading?

It isn't misleading. If you go onto the AT&T website and look at their 3g coverage map it brings up the same map that is in the adverts.

AT&T is saying it is misleading because they have made the assumption that the majority of cell phone users are ignoramuses that see data coverage network maps and think that is the voice coverage as well. But the Verizon ads clearly discuss data applications like web browsing and downloading stuff and not specifically voice.

Sorry, but the people have spoken. AT&T are garbage.

Just fine here in Philly and the surrounding area, if you ask me Sprint is the worst ever. I personally left both SPrint and Verizon due to how many dropped calls they had. I've never had that problem on AT&T

the verizon ads clearly say 3G Coverage under the AT&T maps... how is this misleading?

It really isn't but not everyone realizes that if they aren't in a 3g area (vast majority of att customers) that they probably have edge service.

Kind of a bait and switch tactic.

at&t should start improving their network by placing more towers where they currently don't have service. Lots of places, my calls are fine, but when the other person hangs up, it says the call was dropped not ended. I have to admit my calls lately though have been dropping, nothing power-cycling the phone can't fix.

    • On xiaomi hyperos there's also an option to disable google assistant. I've got everything disabled. Only thing I do have installed is a web wrapped for duck.ai which claims to let you use various AIs anonymously
    • I need to understand the rationale of not shipping all of these K2 improvements in a single update/release. It's giving "we will fix Windows 11 but no commitments". It seems to me that they just announce these improvements just to appease the community.
    • The term "RTM" is long gone starting with Windows 10. Every current release is a GA build. This is the result of MS making Windows as a Service (WaaS).
    • Looks like no official TBW rating, which should be a required listing in my opinion for sites like Amazon (hell, put it on the box too.)
