It's a shame, I really wanted to see Lesnar vs. Carwin. But this is definitely a promising prospect considering the display from Mir this past weekend and with Mir sitting at 265lbs nowadays, a rubber match against Lesnar would be a mouth watering propect!

Shane Carwin confirms likely UFC 111 title fight, agrees to meet Frank Mir

Shane Carwin (11-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) said he's agreed to a reported UFC 111 fight with Frank Mir (13-4 MMA, 11-4 UFC) that's expected to earn the winner an interim heavyweight title.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) reported early this morning that the two heavyweight contenders had been targeted for the March 27 event, which takes place at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

Carwin, who was slated to fight champ Brock Lesnar until the title-holder's recent illness, said he today accepted the Mir fight but still hopes to fight Lesnar someday.

"I do hope to someday get the opportunity to punch Brock a few times and hope he has a speedy and full recovery," Carwin wrote on his official Web site, shane-carwin.com.

Carwin said bout agreements haven't been signed but that he expects the Mir fight to be his next bout.

The fight marks the undefeated competitor's first in a year; he hasn't competed since his UFC 96 victory over Gabriel Gonzaga, and scheduled bouts with Velasquez (UFC 104) and Lesnar (UFC 106 and then UFC 108) ultimately failed to materialize.

However, he expects a competitive matchup with Mir, who recently rebounded from a July loss to Lesnar with a quick beatdown of Cheick Kongo this past weekend in the UFC 107 co-main event. The former champ has now won four of his past five fights.

"I will have been out of the octagon for about a year when this fight happens, but I expect to be in the best shape of my life," stated Carwin, who's posted 11 first-round stoppages in his 11 career wins. "I have a ton of respect for my proposed opponent. He has a good stand up game and can be effective on the ground. The only way to become the best fighter is to continually challenge yourself against the best fighters in the world."

Man, I really wanted to see Carwin fight Brock.

I was just talking to my buddy yesterday about the possibility of an interim champ fight between Mir and Carwin.

I just hope when Brock does come back, he doesn't have any ring rust. For that matter, hopefully Carwin doesn't have any ring rust when he fights Mir.

Shane Carwin vs. Frank Mir set for interim title; UFC 111 official for March (MMA Junkie)

UFC president Dana White recently said current heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar's status would be determined sometime this week, but the organization apparently won't waste time waiting to arrange the remaining contenders in the heavyweight division.

The UFC today announced and MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has since confirmed that former two-time champion Frank Mir (13-4 MMA, 11-4 UFC) and No. 1 contender Shane Carwin (11-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) will meet for the UFC's interim heavyweight title in the co-feature of the now-official UFC 111 event on March 27 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

The belt will be the first of two titles on the line at the event as current welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre and top contender Dan Hardy meet in the evening's co-feature.

While the Carwin vs. Mir matchup has been rumored in recent weeks, today's announcement was the first official word that the promotion has elected to institute an interim title in Lesnar's absence.

Earlier this week, White told a small group of reporters that he still has some concern that Lesnar may never again set foot in the octagon.

"We'll know this week," he said. "I think Brock's going to the doctor this week, and we'll know how this thing is going to go ? whether it's over.

"It could be career-ending for him."

Tickets for UFC 111 are scheduled to go on sale to the general public on Saturday, Jan. 9, at Ticketmaster.com. The ticket-selling website has yet to add an official listing for the event despite the recent announcement by the UFC.

UFC Fight Club members will have the first shot at tickets on Thursday, Jan. 7, while UFC Newsletter subscribers will receive a password that will allow tickets to be purchased on Friday, Jan. 8.

Although the UFC was once a frequent guest in New Jersey and the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort in Atlantic City earlier this decade, only one event has been held in the Garden State in the past four years: UFC 78. The event, headlined by Rashad Evans vs. Michael Bisping and also held at the Prudential Center, drew 14,071 attendees for a solid $2.1 million gate.

GSP is gonna go 5 rounds and make Hardly look like Fitch and Alves after 5 rounds..lol

I'm on the fence on the Mir fight, i'm honestly a fan of both. Carwin is a class act and i'd really like to see him KO brock, but Mir looks soooo fkn good in his last fight at 265+ and he's soo well rounded I really can't see Carwin being able to handle it.

I don't think Hardy is good enough to go against GSP. He just doesn't have what it takes. I may eat my words there but I really doubt it. And I love Mir's smack talk, though I don't really think he does it to talk **** really. I think he's just saying how it is, how he sees it. And people don't like hearing that because he comes across as arrogant.

Carwin wins, kind of sad, I wanted to see the fight last a little longer.

For the record, UFC "smooth stream" is terrible. Don't ever use it. Go with yahoo sports if you have to watch it online. It's horrible quality and cutting out right at the main event.

Seriously not happy with this.. $44.95 and it's cutting out with 2 minutes left in the final round.

I can't tell you how much I hope Carwin wins. I can't stand Mir.

**** YEAH Carwin is the man and is probably the only person who can handle Lesner. Carwin is my new favorite fighter. And i am very happy to see that the fight didnt go past the first round. He has some impressive stats backing up that temporary belt he is holding.

I was partial to the Carwin/Mir fight. I've wanted to see Carwin/Lesnar for a long time, but I'm sentimental and I really wanna see Mir/Lesnar 3. Trouble is, against the big guys, Mir has just been too easily overpowered. Next up for Mir, logically, will probably be Velasquez or Dos Santos. As for Carwin, stunning again, I just really can't wait to see him take on Lesnar!

GSP as dominant as ever and a move up to 185 is probably next up on the cards. I can see them doing a super fight maybe on Super Bowl weekend of GSP vs. Silva. But let's not forget Dan Hardy, sure he was totally out fought, but damn that heart! Armbar and the Kimora! Amazing - Rubber and Elastic! lol!

    • DXVK generally performs better on Linux (using Wine/Proton) than on Windows. Because Linux utilizes highly optimized, open-source Vulkan drivers (like RADV/ACO) that were specifically built for AMD Radeon hardware, the translation of Direct3D 9/11 to Vulkan is highly efficient. But if you take the trouble to watch my video, you can see that there are also advantages for Nvidia users. You see that I run Assassin's Creed Odyssey on 4GB RAM and on an i3-3240. What do you think are the minimum system requirements for windows11? For CPU-based rendering, Linux is generally faster than windows11 by about 15% due to lighter background overhead and efficient kernel scheduling.
