He probably did survive, if their bird didn't get shot down. I'm not too sure if Dr. Hasley survives the Reach invasion in the books, if she does, Jun probably did survive. If she doesn't, Jun is probably dead.

According to the developer commentary Jun is still alive. Halsey survives the Reach invasion in the books but following an entierly different storyline that conflicts with most of what happens in Halo: Reach so who knows that they're going to do next.

the only thing i dont like about reach is complete a campain level and it sends you back to the lobby, then to continue you have to go and manually pick the next level, if i choose Continue Solo Campaign, it puts me back at last save

I get that you want to brag about it, but "really easy"? Not at all.

Yes it is. It was stupid easy. If you find it's challenging you either aren't playing smart or just suck or I'm super ****in good. Take your pick. It was easy, just had to take your time with it, use the DMR/Plasma combo for all elites and pop headshots on everything else, and it was easy. Let your AI kill everything (takes 'em a long time but it works, just not marines). Easiest Halo game to complete on legendary.

I still don't agree that it was "really easy" or "stupid easy", although it may very well be the easiest Halo game to complete on Legendary. It's harder than Call of Duty on Veteran, IMO (well, maybe not World at War's nade fest). I've only played a couple of levels on Legendary solo so far, but yes, I would say it's likely that you're really good given that you always say something is "really easy" (when most of the times it's at least moderately difficult, if not hard) from your posts I've read.

Interesting.?

I hope we get to see how Jun got off Reach/survived the invasion then.

Another vote for not being easy. I played on Heroic and died eight times on the

protect your plane part of the covenant ship mission

.

Inside the Corvette? If so let Jorge do all the work, grab a DMR and plasma pistol. Take out Jackals, grunts when the opportunity presents itself. When you get to the end (4 of 5 elites). You gotta rush one then go up high on one of the sides where they have to run up to you. Just combo 'em down. Should take ya long time, one of the ares where you move really slow. Also you should be able to snag a few checkpoints after killing X amount (I dunno if it was part of it or just because I was running around slow).

According to your Bungie.net stats you died an average of 50 times per campaign level. Sounds like it wasn't that "stupid easy".

Oh really? wow.. they can totally do a Master Cheif + Jun thing in the future LOL.

SPOILERS BELOW

The problem with story in ODST was and in Reach is that nothing happens between first and last levels that advances the plot.

ODST first level : Dare takes you on a secret mission

bunch of crap that you do as some other characters and retrace it as rookie.

ODST last level : Dare tells you that you need to save the damn engineer and game is over.

Reach second level : Halsey tells you there is something important in the latch key.

you do bunch of crap in levels that don't add to main plot including a stupid cab driver pilot level.

Reach second to last level : Halsey tells you that you must save and take cortana to PoA

I still like the game in terms of the way bungie developed the Reach atmosphere, the feel of desperation. The gameplay, weapons, AAs, enemy AI - everything is rock solid and excellent!

Bungie just forgot to bring a good story to the Reach party.

I feel ODST was just a mini Reach with Halo3 mechanics.

The thing is, with any side-story game, much of the story hinges on the lore and dedication of the fanbase. Much of ODST made sense to me seeing as I had read everything up to Ghosts of Onyx at the time. The books put things into perspective, even if not directly related to the plot. Master Chief isn't the only thing that matters in the unverse. ONI and the UNSC are doing a lot more than just telling MC what to kill next. If you want a good backdrop for Reach to make more sense, read Fall of Reach and Ghosts of Onyx. Everything will make a bit more sense and actually flesh the story out wonderfully. It did for me at least even if it drastically broke canon.

BTW, ODST was a winner in terms of gameplay and atmosphere. That is the reason I loved the game so much. Reach is a winner in gameplay, refinement and content. It is nothing but solid and fun to play. Not to mention the AI improvements really add a lot to the game.

And none of them were praised for their story.

I can't believe what I'm hearing, no wonder developers don't bother with good stories or story telling any more, people sucks up everything like a Shamwow

Gameplay > Story. If you want amazing storytelling on a consistent basis then read a book or watch a movie. Games prioritize gameplay and so do those that play them. A story means nothing if the player can't bear the mechanics employed. I played Halo, Deadspace, Fallout 3, Mass Effect, etc. over and over again not because of the story but because of the way the game works. It is just fun to play it. Story hasn't ever really been a priority till this generation. Last gen the story was what it was and most people didn't fret over it.

According to your Bungie.net stats you died an average of 50 times per campaign level. Sounds like it wasn't that "stupid easy".

Did I ever claim I did it without dying? Go back and read all my posts, in one of 'em I mentioned there are tricky parts in each level that you got to deal with. Also looking at my bungie.net stats, I average 19.50 deaths per game. So where'd you get 50? Look at the Deaths/Game part.

Awww snap.

pwned?

Not really but good try.

Obviously dying isn't difficult :p

And neither is the game. It's still easy.

Wasn't aware dying is what makes a game hard. News to me.

Jus' gotta notch it up on the forum losses board pinch.gif

Man I can't wait to play this game.

Anyone know if I will be able to play a store bought official copy of this game on a 360 with outdated custom dvd drive firmware?

Also whether or not I would then be able to access the (local) multiplayer given that MS disabled various functionalities of my HDD when they banned my console?

Yes it is. It was stupid easy. If you find it's challenging you either aren't playing smart or just suck or I'm super ****in good. Take your pick. blink.gif If that's your style of playing a game, then why not just watch someone else play it? I was going to ask if you are one of those speed run guys, but apparently not - according to the updated "intel" below.

I have to play a single Halo game that's easy to finish on Heroic, forget Legendary. For me, easy is if you finish without dying and just plow through all the challenges. The moment you die, it means the game tricked you (apart from player stupidity, let's not include that) and is far from "stupid easy".

According to your Bungie.net stats you died an average of 50 times per campaign level. Sounds like it wasn't that "stupid easy".

Can't say enough of this, PWNED!

I know what you mean. I love this game (been a while since I read either FoR or GoO). It still doesn't change the fact that most of the levels don't advance the plot in both games. I liked ODST as well. It's not that I don't like the games, but compared to 1 and 3 or even 2 (where story was all over the place but still enjoyed the twists), Reach's story feels like something that Gears of War folks would do not bungie.

You died 507 times.

507 deaths/10 missions = 50.7 deaths per mission.

Listen, just relax. It was amusing how you stated how easy it was then he came in with that statement. Learn to laugh at yourself from time to time.

I'm talking about the part at the end with the 8 or 9 elites. I rushed up the stairs and try to combo them from there but it is hard to combo when 2-3 come up the stairs at once while several others go up the other set of stairs and rush me from behind. Not sure what Jorge did for you but he didn't kill a single person for me. He barely shot his gun, it was a joke.

507 deaths/10 missions = 50.7 deaths per mission.

Because I haven't played the game in Co-op before hand. And since you are so capable of reading that, did you bother to read 4 sections below total deaths, where my average is 19.50 (507 total deaths divided by 26 games)?

So way to go. He was wrong to begin with and still is wrong, and now you, yourself just made yourself look like an idiot and show how wrong you are.

And just to set it straight, since ya'll are so concerned about trying to make an easy campaign not easy, I went ahead and did the proper work and added up all my deaths for each mission:

36+12+32+8+20+14+27+39+4= 192 (total deaths to beat solo legendary) 192/9 = 21.3 average deaths per level

If your going to use deaths as a way to prove my statement of, Campaign is easy, wrong make sure you do your homework and don't come on here spewing garbage. You only make yourself look like an idiot and all the people who agree with you also.

Anything else?

    • The only reason I want to know where you from is because if you are not from the U.K, then why should you care what we in the U.K do or don't do? Racist I am not, I am fed up with the amount coming over here and feel they can come over here and think we need to support them. Do you know how much it costs this country to support these people coming over here? Even when we give them a place to live it is not good enough. We had a barge that was being used to house immigrants, oh but that was not good enough. A mate said to me at the time, when he was homeless, he would have been happy to live on the barge, instead of ending up sleeping on a bench on the beach. I am not scared to say what my family heritage is, unlike you who is scared to say where they are from or where they live. Father side U.S, mother side Wales, still have family living in the U.S. A mate who sadly died a few years ago, had a load of people from different races recording in his studio, I got on with all of them. Skin colour don't bother me, where they are from don't bother me. Religion don't bother me as long as they don't push it onto me and it is not crazy stuff. I am not religious. But if you are not living in the U.K, then why should you care if we are in the E.U or not? This the problem, too many people poking their noses into where it don't belong. But you believe what you believe, if you think I am racist, then be it, I really do not care. Just grow a pair
    • If he hasn't been able to figure that out, then why is he obsessed with tariffs? Because that's one of the most prominent tools to level the playing field when you have high cost of labor.
    • Microsoft released Windows 11 KB5102558, KB5095615 Setup and Recovery updates by Sayan Sen This past week Microsoft released the newest preview update (C-release) under KB5095093. Alongside those, Microsoft also released new dynamic updates. For those who may not know, dynamic updates bring improvements to the Windows Recovery process in the form of Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) updates, which are also called Safe OS updates. The dynamic updates also affect the Setup file binaries in the form of Setup updates. These Dynamic Update packages are meant to be applied to existing Windows images prior to their deployment. Dynamic Updates also help preserve Language Pack (LP) and Features on Demand (FODs) content during the upgrade process. VBScript, for example, is currently an FOD on Windows 11 24H2. This time both recovery and setup updates were released for Windows 11. The company writes: "KB5095186: Safe OS Dynamic Update for Windows 11, version 26H1: June 23, 2026 This update makes improvements to the Windows recovery environment (WinRE). After installing this update, the WinRE version installed on the device should be 10.0.28000.2335. KB5102558: Setup Dynamic Update for Windows 11, versions 24H2 and 25H2: June 23, 2026 This update makes improvements to Windows setup binaries or any files that setup uses for feature updates in Windows 11, version 24H2 and Windows 11, version 25H2. KB5095615: Safe OS Dynamic Update for Windows 11, versions 24H2 and 25H2: June 23, 2026 This update makes improvements to the Windows recovery environment (WinRE). After installing this update, the WinRE version installed on the device should be 10.0.26100.8737." Microsoft notes that both the Recovery and Setup updates will be downloaded and installed automatically via the Windows Update channel.
