How many graphic cards have you bought in your life?

Recommended Posts

1 = My computer.

2 = My fathers computer.

ATI 9200 SE (1)

nVidia 6800 (1) - Died early (only a few months after I got it, I only like dealing w/ Newegg warranties which had ran out, so I replaced it with the X1650 below)

ATI X1650 Pro (1)

7800 GTX (2, eventually to 1)

7800 GTX (2, eventually to 1) (bought them at different times)

4850 Toxic (1)

GTX 295 (2)

4890 (1)

That is excluding GPUs I have bought to other purposes (such as workstation computers for my fathers company or for repairing other computers) as though I initially paid for them I have been reimbursed for them.

Bolded are GPUs I still have, the newest ones (295 and 4890) are the ones I am currently using in my computers, the 7800 GTX I have in a static bag in my garage in-case one of my GPUs go out and I cannot wait for the replacement to get here.

Seems I have had exactly the same number of nVidia cards as I have had ATI cards over the years.

used a lot of random ones can't really remember previous to this.

Voodoo2

S3 Savage 3D

Geforce2 GTS

Radeon 9000

Radeon 9600XT

Radeon 9250

Radeon X850XT

Radeon HD 3870 [current in use]

9600GT [twice for other peoples systems]

Ouch, dude, you should upgrade asap.

i like it. ive chnaged the fan and it runs very cool at 47 degrees when playing games at everythin max.

Geforce Ti420, The fan eventually died on it and at the time I didn't feel confident enough to change it (I was like... 14)

ATi 9600XT, This thing was like some kind of beast, ran the latest games for years. Still running in my dad's PC now.

ATi 1600XT, Was terrible for what I wanted from it, I didn't do enough research on it and bought it because it was cheap, even tho I could have afforded something much better. Is currently in my Core i7 build due to my 8800gts dying (see next)

Nvidia 8800GTS. Great Card, Transferred over to my i7 build that I built last year. Died today :'( Crashes instantly after login in 7 when it tries to start Aero, Artefacts like crazy even in safe mode and now doesn't seem to want to post at all. I'll test in another PC tho before totally writing it off.

I'll probably replace the 8800gts with a 5850, but to be honest tho I really don't see the point in spending a ton on graphics cards nowadays given that PC games are often delayed behind the console counterparts, crippled in various ways, or covered in DRM. The games that do come out are rarely all that different graphics wise from the console release.

If my 8800 hadn't died, I could have probably kept it for another year or two and barely noticed.

Card --> Main Reason for buying

=======================

ATi Rage 128 Pro --> Doom, Quake, etc.

ATi Radeon 9200 --> Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit

Nvidia GeForce FX5200 --> Farcry

Nvidia GeForce 8800GT --> Crysis, Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, PCI-E architecture

ATI 9600 (sold it shortly after i discovered that it is not compatible with my pc)

Geforce 5300

Geforce 6200

Geforce 6800GT

Geforce 8800GTS320

ATI HD4870X2

the last three card cost me over 1400USD alone in total

- Trident Blade 3D card (came with my first PC branded "Hyundai 2000" in 2000)

- Hercules Prophet 64mb

- ATI x300 (first PCI-E card I bought and the last ATI card I will ever buy).

- Geforce 6600GT

- Geforce 7600GS

- Gigabyte Geforce GTX260 (in RMA at the moment)

- XFX Geforce GTX275 (current card inside my third PC now)
