[Hobby] Guitar

Recommended Posts

Recently, my dad suddenly wanted to relearn the guitar again, so as his Christmas present to himself, he went and bought this:

post-151617-0-71568000-1293024882.jpg

An Epiphone Les Paul.

He also got a Roland Micro Cube amp for it, as well as a bag, a stand, and an electric tuner as well.

It's very beautiful.

I was actually thinking of learning the guitar myself, but I wanted to do it through Rock Band 3, with their Fender Mustand MIDI guitar they've brought out. Unfortunately, a lack of money has stopped me there. :(

I have :

Gibson Les Paul Standard - 1989 model, with Tobacco Burst effect, and a Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro in the neck and a DiMarzio Super Distortion in the bridge.

Running into a BOSS TU-2 Tuner

Running into a Marshall JCM 2553 Silver Jubilee Amplifier. 1988 model.

I run that into a Marshall 1960 Cab.

I have an Electro Harmonix LPB-1 in the effects loop of the amp, for solo boosts.

I LOVE guitar and I play every day. I'm in a band and we have gigged a bunch but recently got a new singer. I write the music and the new singer is putting new words down to my melodies for gigging next year :)

Ignore the cab, that's a custom built one that I don't use anymore, and it's a fake Mesa logo. The cab has V30's in it, and I now use larger speakers.

Here's a close up of my guitar :

Heh, yeah, but it's powerful enough to play most venues (the JSX is a 120W valve amp, and MY GOD is it loud)

Haha!! Yeah, Peaveys are loud as frack. My 5150 blows stuff off my walls with the post on 2.5!!!

Incredible. Looks like you have a Dual Rectifier in there too. Also some other Mark series amps (I'm on my phone so I can't see clearly what ones).

neah, the Triple rectifier head is reserved for home use only and that is a mark V

I might cry :p

How do you like the Mark V comapred to the Triaxis? :)

Somehow i prefer the Mark V better than the triaxis the main reason is because in the triaxis the more gain you add, the more compressed it gets, sure, but that's metal. Every Mesa sound I want is there in the Triaxis except for the Rectifier heavy sound. But then again it depends on your musical genre also..

What's below the Mark V? Looks like a Mark II or III?

Nice!! Do you still have the Mark IV and Mark III, or did you ditch them for the Mark V alltogether?

i still have the mark III, im thinking about trading it with another Mark V but i've spend a lot of money in building my new home studio, need to start saving money again

My bro has a Mark V with a Mesa 4x12 and it's killer!!

That's the difference between $ 400 amps and $2000 amps

Haha, well the Mark V definitely blows my 5150 out of the water in every category, except maybe for metal. It's very close. The Mark V is amazing. It's so clear and articulate, and the note separation is superb. But there is just something about the gain and mid structure of the 5150 that can't be beat. It's an absolute beast for metal IMO. Keep in mind that mine had been modified to have an adjustable bias, so I've taken it out of crossover distortion and it's now a lot smoother and less "buzzy" than 5150's are known for. My bro agrees with me on that one BTW.

But yeah, the Mark V is my favorite over all amp I've played through. It's just soooooo versatile.

  • Ibanez RG7321.
  • Jackson PS4.
  • Yamaha electro-acustic.
  • Mesa Boogie Roadster head & 4x10 Mesa Boogie cab.
  • Marshall valvestate combo (old stuff and AFAIK discontinued, bought second hand about 12 years ago. Great for gigs on small places when I don't feel like carrying heavy equipment around).
  • Line6 PodXT3.
  • Several little toys I barely use anymore: digitech's whammy, dunlop's hendrix wah, boss' metal zone, an old korg multieffect (that I carry around just for tuning on stage)...

I have been playing on several bands (mostly metal) up until three years ago. I moved to other different hobbies but turns out I just can't live without music, so I've just began searching for a new band rofl.gif

It sucks though that I seem to be unable to choose hobbies that aren't expensive pinch.gif

    • I've always preferred this possibility. There is something that feels good about the idea that all matter in the universe will eventually come back together and maybe even result in another big bang. The idea that the universe would fizzle out over the eons and forever drift apart is a little depressing. I realize it is not logical to let a basic human desire for life to have a grand everlasting meaning change the way I feel about a scientific theory, but I am human, so that is how I feel :-).
    • Windoze 11 could finally go to hell, instead of making me savor yet another error I've never had. "Bad Pool Caller" or whatever TF cryptic crap0la message it is. Adding salt to injury, it says something along these lines (on the blank black screen after it hard stops): "Your windoze needs to restart. You can restart." NO WAY SHERLOCK. The PEECEE, look, it's *blocked*, I can do jack sh1t with it as it is and you say that it needs to restart? Further, that I can restart? What am I supposed to do, take a herbal bath? Sudo a sandwich? Timewaster pile of useless slop and errors, coded by monkeys and force-fed on us by a pedo-founded corporation, that's all there is to it. Now, let's have a fun weekend trying to handle the error, which after a quick internet check can basically be due to EVERYTHING, from memory faults to drivers to motherboard issues. Thanks M$.

It emphasizes privacy by blocking trackers, ads, and ensuring your data isn't collected. With Zen Mods, users can enhance their browser experience with various customization options, including features like split views and vertical tabs. The browser is designed for efficiency, providing fast browsing speeds and a lightweight interface. Zen Browser prioritizes user control over the browsing experience, offering a minimal yet powerful alternative to traditional web browsers while keeping your online activity private. Zen Browser’s DRM limitation Zen Browser currently lacks support for DRM-protected content, meaning streaming services like Netflix and HBO Max are inaccessible. This is due to the absence of a Widevine license, which requires significant costs and is financially unfeasible for the developer. Additionally, applying for this license would require Zen to be part of a larger company, similar to Mozilla or Brave. Therefore, DRM-protected media won't be supported in Zen Browser for the foreseeable future. Zen Browser offers features that improve user experience, privacy, and customization: Privacy-Focused: Blocks trackers and minimizes data collection. Automatic Updates: Keeps the browser updated with security patches. Zen Mods: Customizable themes and layouts. Workspaces: Organize tabs into different workspaces. Compact Mode: Maximizes screen space by minimizing UI elements. Zen Glance: Quick website previews. Split Views: View multiple tabs in the same window. Sidebar: Access bookmarks and tools quickly. Vertical Tabs: Manage tabs vertically. Container Tabs: Separate browsing sessions. Fast Profile Switcher: Switch between profiles easily. Tab Folders: Organize tabs into folders. Customizable UI: Personalize browser interface. Security Features: Inherits Firefox’s robust security. Fast Performance: Lightweight and optimized for speed. Zen Mods Customization: Deep customization with mods. Quick Access: Easy access to favorite websites. Open Source: Built on Mozilla Firefox with community collaboration. Community-Driven: Active development and feedback from users. GitHub Repository: Contribute and review the source code. Zen Browser 1.21.3b changelog: New Features Updated to Firefox 152.0.1 Fixes Fixed transparency not working after updating to 1.21.2b (#14259) Fixed frequent crashes affecting users with Intel Raptor Lake processors Fixed an issue on macOS where choosing a PDF option, such as "Save as PDF", from the system print dialog would send the job to your printer instead of saving a file. • Microsoft, why can't I just turn off Copilot on my MS account (in order to stop OneDrive from wanting to summarize everything, ahem) in a way that doesn't break OneNote instead?
