[Steam] Holiday Sale

Just picked up Crysis, I might buy Darwinia + Multiwinia later. My only problem now is I have too many games and not enough time to play them all.

So far I have GTA IV, STALKER, Burnout Paradise, Crysis, Crysis Warhead and Dead Space, all of which I haven't even touched yet, and there's still 3 days of deals left. Oh well, maybe these will keep me busy until next years deals :D

i advise everyone with vista/7 and dx10 card to get shattered horizon, imo its worth even full price but at 75% off its a steal !

I just picked it up, watched the trailer and it looks pretty damn interesting for sure.

if Crysis got rid of the activation limit i would be all over it.

While i agree its not fair that it should be there, its not THAT bad.

You can activate the game as many times as you like on your PC, you just cant install/play/activate on any more than (i think) 5 PCs. so as long as you dont upgrade too often etc, you should be sound.

+1

just purchased it my self

Have to remind myself to buy these games towards the end of the deal. Before when I downloaded Max Payne 2 I got speeds of 3.0 Mbp/s and got it in less than 10 minutes. Right now I am downloading Shattered Horizon at a whopping 39.7 KB/s Shame too as I wanted to check it out ASAP, oh well got some Max Payne 2 to check out again, could be worse.

Let me know what you think of it, I'm close to hitting the "Purchase" button.

No problem I will let you know once it is done downloading and I can check it out, but feel free to check it out for yourself as I just sent you one of the three guest passes it came with. (Y)

It's not bad here, bit slow but can't complain.

I'd like a guest pass if you still have more. I'm considering it as well.

What is the Shattered Horizon all about? It seems people are singing from the roof tops about it.

Well I dont know about singing from the roofs but I will say I feel it was WELL worth the $4.99 and I have only played one match so far. Basically it is a MP FPS in Zero Gravity. So W A S D is thrust. F lets you lock onto a surface. C and Space Bar boosts I think.

It looks like you only have one weapon, but it can snipe as well, and you also have a one hit melee kill although I am thinking that may be touch to pull off. But it is pretty crazy as the first one I played took place just right in space around some satellite thing or something, so it is pretty cool being in zero gravity in space like that. With that said, I can see it getting slightly tired rather fast if there is not much variety in the maps, but for $4.99 even if it does get old rather fast I will definitely have gotten my money worth out of it, as it is just pretty fun to play.

    • I think I understood the article fine. Online password managers open users up to more possibilities of getting hacked, and due to KeePass being offline and local it reduces the idea of getting hacked. If someone chooses to put their database online they're kinda missing the point. With regards to the idea of the on-prem idea, I would have two issues. I'm not sure about the first issue, but I wouldn't be surprised about them offering a cloud storage for the passwords that most wouldn't bother to switch off, regardless of if they went for on-prem or not. The second issue is that the on-prem solution for Bitwarden costs money, whereas KeePass is free and open-source (as far as I am aware). The article points out how to sync the database between devices, and I recognise that deficiency in security. But it isn't a necessity. So both services can offer a same idea, but one is free and the other isn't...choices, choices.... But to each their own.

    • I am not surprised because life is the product of a lot of biochemical and physical processes that releases various energies as a by-product. The only thing new here is the detection of these photon emissions. The researches noted this "glow" is not a metaphysical one. They don't even immediately end when one is dead. Things like fires, light bulbs, and on a bigger scale stars release a lot more "light" and they are hardly alive.
