Cy-Kill Posted January 4, 2010 Share Posted January 4, 2010 Another company dropping Woods, oh well, it had to happen: Dec. 31 (Bloomberg) -- AT&T Inc. cut ties with Tiger Woods after his admissions of marital infidelity, following at least two other companies in backing away from their endorsements of the world?s top-ranked golfer. ?We are ending our sponsorship agreement with Tiger Woods and wish him well,? Michael Coe, a spokesman for the biggest U.S. phone company, said in an e-mail today. AT&T began a multiyear deal in February to place its logo on Woods?s golf bag and has sponsored his annual Tiger Jam benefit concerts. The carrier?s decision comes two weeks after Accenture Plc and Procter & Gamble Co. began pulling away from Woods, who said this month that he?s taking a leave of absence from golf to work on his marriage. People tend to look up to athletes more than they would a government figure. The longer this continues the less of a chance his reputation and career will recover.
