GameFly Alternative for the UK?

Recommended Posts

Please note first of all, i am looking for a service which would be like GameFly in the USA where they send you the physical disc etc. Not a game rental service where you download the game - since im on 3G Dongles at the moment.

Anyway, is there a PC game rental service like GameFly but for people in the UK?

Thanks,

Cameron.

People (including GameFly) don't normally do PC Rentals because of piracy, drm, serial numbers etc. It's just one big huge headache.

If you're looking for a consoles you could use http://www.boomerangrentals.co.uk/ - I did a trial with them and they were pretty good

That sucks, you can easily make a ISO out of any copy of any console disc as well though -.-

Im a PC only gamer as well, which doesnt make it easy.

Well you need a cracked console and all sorts, the process for PS3 was found out only yesterday I believe and it's very pricey for the media + a burner but above all it's far too fiddly. With PC gaming it's far easier to pirate. The other thing is once a game is installed they don't know if you've uninstalled it - but yeah, it sucks for PC gamers.

Honestly, we(PC Gamers) do have a rental service.

Now, honestly, its not an "upfront" way of renting games, but its worked for me for years. Bad side of it is you cant play online, but thats the thing, if your iffy about the game its the BEST way to play the game.

While many wont condone what im trying to say, but the truth is, if i couldnt play the game before i bought it(demo's, "renting", etc) then I wouldnt buy it.

But, with my method, if I play a good 5-30 mins and like the game, ill go buy it, which is why im at 79 games retail disc version and about 18 on steam.

I love digital and hate it at the same time

I know what you need, i flash Xbox's and softmod Wii's for my mates for homebrew etc uses :) Mostly Since the Wii is missing a media-center.

Do you mean pirating the game?

That wasn't really my point. I'm not saying 'this is how you do it'. I'm just saying the hoops you have to go through on a console is greater than on PCs, and that's one of the reasons you wont find (m)any PC game rental services.

LoveFilm is great. No way would it be feasible for PC games though - not in it's current format.
