I give up, you guys are really frustrating to get threw to.

Just because Best Buy sells Windows computers doesnt mean they make Windows. Dell is just a seller, they sell the Playstation even though Sony makes it. I am tired of explaining this to you all so just believe what you want.

Aw, look at this, he still thinks he has a clue. That's so cute.

spend 16 bucks or whatever on windowblinds 7.

it will allow you theme it to mac osx.

use avedesk to give those nice looking icons with stats. and desklets will give you the gadgets.

use objectbar for the menubar thingy in mac.

find some crappy mac wallpapers infused with a whole bunch apple logos. there you go. there's your mac wannabe windows.

i personally think windows 7 is more compact, and light years better looking than mac osx. the only thing mac does better are its icons. and seriously, if you really care about eye candy that much, switch over to mac. your work will obviously be slowed down by the learning curve, and the newbie wierdness feeling you get when you have to access a menubar that is separate from windows, but whatever...atleast you will have your superficial eyecandy.

meanwhile i'll be getting things done in ease, compatibility and comfort from my windows 7 computer.

Absolutely true.

Dell is just a seller, they sell the Playstation even though Sony makes it.

Wrong. Dell builds their own computers. Dell puts WINDOWS on their computers. Dell does not make windows. Non apple computers are not to be referred to as "windows computers" - simply "PCs" or "Personal computers".

I am tired of explaining this to you all so just believe what you want.

Alright, I won't stop you from looking like an idiot with an IQ of a cucumber if that's your wish

i think troll would be a bit much...i'm guessing we're talking to an adolescent who hit puberty after ipods became popular...

That means he would've had to have been in single digits age wise when he registered in 2002..

Absolutely true.

Wrong. Dell builds their own computers. Believe what you want and be wrong. I'll continue knowing the truth and being better off.

That means he would've had to have been in single digits age wise when he registered in 2002..

oh wow, i can't believe i missed that. i take back my comment. find another facepalm picture for me and put it up here.

Like caleo said, your gonna make many of us regret what we said. Ive been warned because people like you.

So here's how im gonna put it down. If you even continue to be subtle and flame us, I will get this thread locked by someone. Until then, this thread is fine.

Now, to stay on topic, MICROSOFT makes WINDOWS the OS. Not the hardware. Hardware companies are Asus, Acer, Toshiba, HP, Compaq, Dell, etc. Apply makes MAC OS. Key characters O and S. Which stands for Operating System.

Apple however, makes there own computers/machines(whatever you wanna call it). They dont make the hardware. They are famous for using Intel, Hitachi, etc. They just build the machines, not the hardware, where as microsoft leaves it up to Dell, HP, Asus, Acer, etc.

Linux however is a Open Source OS. It has nothing to do with Computers/Machines. It can be installed on ANYTHING. You can install linux on your very own "microsoft machine"(i.e. dell computer) or on a Mac. Does not matter.

Now thats cleared up, im gonna refer to one of your posts, the 20 gigs your lacking is because of the OS being on the hard drive. Where do you expect the files that load up all the graphics on your computer to be? In thin air? Same with Mac and Linux. The OS needs space to store the files it uses to load so you can have an easier experience then this.

So now, to refer to your post again, it says your from the USA, but your gramma is TERRIBLE. Example If Microsoft does not make computers then what machine do I have. It says Inspiron with Windows 7.

Xbox 360 too Microsoft makes… DUH.

Inspiron is a series DELL offers. and its Microsoft makes the xbox 360. You sound like your either very young and illiterate or from over seas and have not picked up on proper english grammar and your translating stuff like my parents do sometimes / my family from home.

Now, that this is over, PLEASE think carefully before you post.

Good post sikh (Y)

I am a longtime Windows user but Windows 7 is really crummy? Bill Gates really screwed things up big time. I want to make Windows 7 look like a Mac OS which was designed by Steven Jobs, he has much better taste IMO.

How do I accomplish this in the easiest way? Thank you in advance.

2/10... decent but too obvious troll attempt.

Wow are you dumb or what Escalade. It says Dell because thats where I bought it from dell.com but its a WINDOWS computer. Microsoft is the one that makes Windows not anybody else. There are 3 companies that make computers, Microsoft Windows Apple Mac and Linux.

Are you serious? The only one of those companies that make computers is Apple. How many times do you have to contradict yourself? Yes, good job; Microsoft makes Windows, but Windows is not a computer. Maybe this is all a little too complex for you. Let's try to keep it simple:

Take this and write it down: A computer is not the same thing as an operating system. Windows is not a computer. It's an operating system...

Honestly, could you make it clear to us if you have a learning disorder or something. If you do, I would feel really bad and apologize. Seriously.

This thread has been quite amusing :)

Nonny, firstly Dell is the computer manufacturer, or what is more commonly known as the OEM, they design the case and what parts should be used for each system they sell. For example they may have a contract with Western Digital to include Western Digital hard drives in all their Inspiron laptops. Similarly they have a deal with Microsoft to sell the computer with Windows installed and licensed correctly.

From Microsoft's point of view Windows is a generic platform designed to run on any x86 based computer be it made by Dell, Lenovo or yourself buying parts and a case separately.

If you having computer problems you should contact Dell first as they are the reseller and the responsibility lies with them to assist you. If they cannot they will escalate it to Microsoft however support from Microsoft is not free other than a few things such as product activation support.

The reason you 320GB hard drice is seen as less is because it isn't really 320GB, it is closer to 300GB, this is due to the fact that Windows (and most operating systems) and the hard drive manufacturers see gigabytes slightly differently. Windows sees them as 1024MB to a GB whereas the hard drive manufacturers see them as 1000MB to the GB so it makes their drives appear bigger. This is a messy subject and you can read about it in the following Wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibibyte

As for wanting to make Windows look more like OS X is like making a BMW look like a Mercedes. Both are good cars and do the job well, OS X is not perfect, it crashes at times, it has buggy applications and some very annoying ways of doing things. As you mentioned using a Linux distribution, such as Ubuntu, is another answer. Other popular operating systems are FreeBSD and Solaris.

I am also sorry to say that I highly doubt the "iSlate" will be $300 or less. More like $600-800. Perhaps more if they decide to integrate the MacBook Air as the next generation tablet based computer with a swivel screen similar to Lenovo tablet PCs.

If you want the Mac "experience" they I suggest selling your current computer and buying an iMac or MacBook Pro depending on your needs.

    • This is a none story - these low volume Chinese models will always get new experimental features first because Apple and Samsung can't produce them in huge volume to meet demand.
    • Nvidia GeForce NOW gains support for Dark Scrolls, Empulse, and more by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The final update of June for Nvidia's cloud gaming service GeForce NOW is now available, and it is touting support for six more games. The company is also drawing subscriber attention towards the summer sales kicking off across stores, so they can stock up on more cloud-supported titles. Of course, the Steam Summer Sale is the biggest promotion, which is kicking off later today. "Supported Steam games can be streamed across devices with GeForce NOW, making it easy to buy a game once, keep progress synced and pick up where the gameplay left off on PCs, Macs, handheld devices, phones, TVs and more," says the company. "In other words, the Steam Summer Sale brings the deals; GeForce NOW adds the flexibility." Don't forget that the GeForce NOW summer sale is still active as well. This limited-time offer drops the 12-month Performance membership from $99.99 to $64.99, saving members $35. At the same time, the 12-month Ultimate membership is currently going for $129.99, dropping the price by $70 from the original $199.99. Here are the games joining GeForce NOW's supported list this week: Dark Scrolls (New release on Steam, available June 22) SAND: Raiders of Sophie (New release on Steam, available June 22) Deer & Boy (New release on Steam, available June 23) EMPULSE (New release on Steam, available June 24) The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales (Steam) FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves (Steam) With the June expansions coming to an end, Nvidia should be announcing its July GeForce NOW plans next week. Keep in mind that, unlike subscription services like Game Pass or EA Play, a copy of a game must be owned by the GeForce NOW member (or at least have a license via PC Game Pass) to start playing via Nvidia's cloud servers. There is also a limit to how many hours subscribers can use the service per month.
