The other links are FTP. Neowin, by default, assumes all links to be HTTP. If you copy and paste the link into your browser it will work. Also make sure to copy the whole link and not the shortened displayed one.

It has nothing to do with Neowin, it's how the forum software [invision Board] assumes that it's an HTTP URL.

This is not fully-fledged RC version

As of today, January 6th, 2010 Firefox 3.6 RC Build 1 is live and up for grabs via the company?s FTP servers. Users should however be aware of the fact that this is not the fully-fledged RC of Firefox 3.6, codenamed Namoroka, but instead only a candidate development build

BTW if we look at Projects Wiki Page , we find that there is still one project left for 1.9.2 , i.e. Ts' Performance Improvement which deals with startup performance. So this is another evidence that fully-fledged RC is yet to be released.

I think this version is done and i have faced no bugs yet

Disabled by default since it's still quite buggy, go to about:config and look for preferences starting with ipc.

Did it... wonder what's buggy about it. Haven't encountered much... and the process is called "Mozilla-runtime" or something along that in Task Manager.

I've been using Chrome lately, even though I'm very fond of Firefox. I stopped using Firefox because the memory usage went over 200,000K all the time and it began to irritate the hell out of me.

I switch of between Chrome and Firefox... and btw, get Firefox Ultimate Optimizer... just google it. Keeps firefox under 5 MB of RAM, Always, no matter what amount of tabs or addons you have.

And Chrome uses around the same (if not more) amount of memory as Firefox uses.

They all use around the same amount of memory, which isn't that surprising since they all have to do the same thing and keep the same data in memory.

How fast and stable has 3.6 been for people? 3.5.x is now simply unusable for me because for some reason, especially when using Facebook, it just sometimes acts really slow (uses over 150mb of memory) and crashes a lot - even with all third-party extensions and themes disabled. I don't know why and I'd rather not do a full new install of Firefox, losing bookmarks and addons. Sometimes it's usable, but not often.

Updated :) See how this build goes. Hopefully we are close to final.

Calum: I had a few issues with 3.5 and switched back to Opera for a while, but I have to say that 3.6 is pretty stable for me and facebook works better than it ever did in any other browser :)

Under 5MB? Jeeze, performance has to be really crappy due to all the paging it has to do. Don't tell me otherwise because I expect a browser to use way more than 5MB. It's just the nature of the browsers and the web.

Well, unstable is relative, they're more crashy than release builds for me, but I've had a total of 3 crashes with Firefox 3.5.*, and all have been caused by Flash.

But yeah, everything lands in mozilla-central first, then is landed in mozilla-1.9.2 (1.9.1 = 3.5, 1.9.2 = 3.6)

Edit: My Mac has a total of 6 crashes logged, and they date back to July last year.

    • I’m still using an Xbox One S, so time for an upgrade to play this but as much as I hate Sony, I think I’ll get the ps5 pro
    • I bought this game. Played it for an hour, and then got a refund from Steam. Not a fun game at all.
