i think this was the best qualifying this year. unbelievable how mclaren and ferrari managed to screw this one up!

great result for redbull and mercedes too, im only a little bit disappointed that button had to spin out exactly that moment when felipe massa was on his way to get p12 or p13. after that, the rain was too heavy.

anyway having the 2 topteams starting from behind will lead to an interesting race hopefully. :D

man, ferrari really really should replace alonso with some better driver asap and make felipe massa the teamleader.

---

Alonso "I insisted with the team that we should wait, I take 70% of the blame. But for tomorrow I remain optimistic"

Massa: "Had I gone out 30 second earlier I would have done it. Who decided? It was a collective choice: but the car is good in any condition and I'm confident".

here's a picture to prove that i was there

the red bull and mclaren cars during the second qualifying session...

it was raining so the lighting conditions were gloomy , and my camera was crap so it had to use a long exposure and the cars look blurry...

but it was sure quite an experience to see a mclaren spin out with my very own eyes

also they had a concert thing going on where i think it was Wyclef Jean's band rehearsing and doing sound checks, and a bunch of Ferrari guys decided to get some photo opportunities, despite the screen behind them still showing the colour band test pattern... you sort of only see one of them in this picture cuz the rest of the pictures i took are too blurry and not worth uploading...

i bet my ass that this car in front of the redbull is m.schumacher in the mercedes and not a mclaren car.

dangit your right... gaah i've gotten mixed up with the liveries this year, i was half asleep when i posted that... mclaren have that bright fluorescent orange now that i think about it, impossible to miss especially in the rain

it could be the mercedes , or the bmw sauber , too blurry to see the red stripe going down the sides...?

i dont think im gonna bother with my camera today, even as i type this i could see the stormclouds on the horizon out of my window...

Pretty good race - despite the lack of rain. Well done to Red Bull, they controlled the race.

Bad luck for Schumacher; without the wheel nut issue he could have made it to 4th or maybe even 3rd.

Ferrari seem to have an issue with reliability. Both Saubers having engine issues, Alonso's engine blowing up two laps from the end... looks like a problem.

Bring on China two weeks from now.

amazing race. i loved hamiltons many overtakings, he really is one of the biggest fighters out there

great that redbull brought it home this time.

and im impressed by the great race massa drove. again past his overrated team-mate after the start. and then managed to overtaking button who enjoys a 10kph topspeed advantage.

now he is leading the world championship!!!!

alonso lost his 4th engine already, given the horrible reliability of ferrari he might be out already.

Twas good. Alonso blew a cylinder just before the corner trying to overtake Button; he put the engine in high revs at Ferrari's request in order to overtake Button. He was suffering a gearbox issue since the start of the race, mostly relating to downshifts so that was really pushing his and the teams luck.

Should've been Webbers' race. Oh well, congrats to Vettel. Poor Schumi though, he had good pace. Congrats to Sutil as well, drove a fantastic race in the Force India.

Edit:

alonso lost his 4th engine already, given the horrible reliability of ferrari he might be out already.

I believe he's only lost one, the one he lost this race. The other 3 (you sure it's 3, I know they replaced one before the Bahrain race?) are still good for practice sessions so no real biggie. Am I right to say your a Hamilton fan and hate Alonso?

both ferrari drivers had to exchange the engine already before bahrain and changed again for melbourne. using the same one this time (and it blew up on alonsos car) means he ll be on the 4th engine next race. im no engine-expert but pretty sure the current one is damaged. dont know about the bahrain ones, but it doesnt look good for ferrari.

actually, im a ferrari fan myself and a big fan of felipe massa. i never bought the raikkonen hype while he was at ferrari and now its the same with alonso. despite all that "tamtamtam" also alonso gets outperformed and beaten by massa.

i also think hamilton and vettel are very impressive drivers. vettel more in the qualifying and hamilton shows great fighting spirit in the race.

Alonso bemoans 'hardest race ever'

Fernando Alonso labelled the Malaysian Grand Prix as the hardest race of his life after having to cope with gearbox issues before retiring.

The Ferrari driver lost his clutch before the start of the race and was forced to step on the throttle on corners in order for the gears to engage.

Despite that, Alonso battled with team-mate Felipe Massa and McLaren's Jenson Button, before an engine failure forced him out with two laps to go.

The Spaniard looked set for ninth position, which would have helped him keep the championship lead. As it was, however, Alonso is now tied in second place, two points behind Massa.

"From the start things went wrong," Alonso told Spanish television. "On the formation lap my gearbox broke and I had no clutch during the race, so I had to brake in a weird way.

"I had to first gear down and then push the throttle hard so it would engage the gear for that corner.

"So it was probably the hardest race of my whole life in terms of driving, because I had to improvise for every corner. But even so we were going to get a few points, which in the end was not possible because of the engine.

"But if the gearbox and then the engine are going to break, it's better than in happens when you are ninth than when you are leading and you lose 25 points."

He added: "A tough weekend. Sometimes it's us, sometimes it's other. You have to take the opportunities."

frikin amazing stuff from Alonso.

rev. matching to change gears, in every corner, in that malaysian heat. awesomeness!

if massa was in that position, he'd have finished outside points.

Massa's engineer HAD to tell him to attack Jenson, lol.

with a good car he needed someone to tell him that, its a race. :p

Alosno with a broken g-box, attacked JB & even overtook him, but unfortunately that engine had taken too much.

i say drop massa in 2011 & get kimi back :p

I have to say, Formula 1 is really missing Kimi. Kimi is a classic character, unique really. Doesn't waffle on about irrelevant crap, just gets the job done and does it right. One thing that sticks to my mind is in Malaysia last year, when it was pouring rain and the race had stopped; Kimi hopped out of the car and into the Ferrari lounge to grab some ice-cream before the red flag, classic. He's also an extremely talented driver and was one of the 3 (Haikonnen and Montoya) who could attack Schumi when he was in his prime (perfect car, perfect team. I'm not saying he's uncompetitive now. I think he's still got it in him, just needs to find his way with the car and find the perfect setup. Top 10 in the qualies after 3 years away from the sport is a great achievement in itself.). He makes races interesting and has interesting driving moves such as driving to the outside of the track to overtake. He managed to pull Ferrari last year in a crappy, uncompetitive car to a respectable fourth in the constructors and in return, Ferrari kick him out. Hopefully Kimi gets another stint in Formula 1 with a respectable and competitive team.

Perhaps we will see Kimi with Red Bull next year as Vettel hinted before the race in an interview that he would like to be with Ferrari, maybe as soon as next season. But where will Massa go? :(

Alonso is a great driver in his own right and is finding himself well with the Ferrari.

Who else is looking forward for next season? Two or more tyre brands (Michelin I think has been confirmed as well as Bridgestone), possible return of KERS, no double diffusers and hopefully we will go back to refueling.

Alosno with a broken g-box, attacked JB & even overtook him, but unfortunately that engine had taken too much.

Failing to stop for the corner doesn't count as an overtake, you need to take the corner and come out ahead for it to count

Overall, it was a decent race, however, how much of that was down to the mixed grid i'm not sure. Was definitely better than Bahrain though but still showed the old problem of being unable to pass similar / slightly slower cars. Massa passing Button was down to Button having some seriously old tyres on and mismatches like that aren't going to be too common.

if massa was in that position, he'd have finished outside points.

i very much doubt that!

lets not forget people, massa was in similar troubles like alonso today in bahrain. but he kept it cool, slowed a bit down and finished 2nd. you just have to finish in points with the new points system otherwise you are lost pretty much.

Massa's engineer HAD to tell him to attack Jenson, lol.

you mean that engineer who alonso wanted to steal away from felipe after he arrived to ferrari but failed? :p

interviews like today are the fact i dont like alonso. he just cant accept getting beaten by a strong teammate. he was crying against hamilton and is now doing the same against massa.

he is such a diva. all has to be a big drama, now he tells like he did great but he just overcook his engine. thats not great, thats stupid!

Failing to stop for the corner doesn't count as an overtake, you need to take the corner and come out ahead for it to count

lets say, Alosno had clutch (when passing JB), i dont see him running wide in that corner.

he couldnt get the power soon enough to keep the lead, he could have blocked JB if had got the power soon enough, coz JB with degraded tyre wouldnt have tried anything silly, that too just 2 laps to go.

Ferrari should have informed FA about his engine's condition, atleast then he could have been still leading the WDC with 2 points.

so another bummer from Ferrari team, in the same weekend.

You mean just like Alonso?

well, if it was Massa, i think he would have been out of points position before half distnace :p

anyways, i hink he is still recovering from Hungary or FA is already #1 in the team :p

coz even with a broken car FA posted 2nd fastest lap.

    • OpenAI is rolling out a major upgrade to ChatGPT memory by Pradeep Viswanathan OpenAI is rolling out a major upgrade to ChatGPT's memory, making the system more capable, current, and scalable across long-term use. Memory allows ChatGPT to remember useful details about users, including their preferences, projects, and constraints. Instead of starting every conversation from scratch, ChatGPT can use this context to provide more relevant responses in future chats. OpenAI first launched saved memories in February 2024. That feature allowed users to explicitly ask ChatGPT to save information into its memory, such as travel plans or writing preferences. However, this system had limits because it depended heavily on users giving clear instructions to remember something. Additionally, saved memories could become stale over time. In April 2025, OpenAI expanded memory by allowing ChatGPT to reference past chat context outside the saved memories list. This was powered by a background process called “dreaming,” which automatically curates memories from chat history. This made ChatGPT better at learning from natural conversation without requiring users to manually save every detail. Today, OpenAI announced a more capable and compute-efficient memory architecture built on top of dreaming. This new system improves ChatGPT’s ability to carry forward useful context, follow user preferences, and remain accurate as time passes. According to OpenAI’s internal evaluations, the new system improves factual recall from 67.9% in 2025 to 82.8% in 2026. Preference adherence improves from 55.3% to 71.3%, while accuracy over time improves from 52.2% to 75.1%. The best part of this new system is a new memory summary page where users can review ChatGPT's memories. Users can even update details, correct information, or give instructions on what topics ChatGPT should bring up and when. This new, improved memory system is available to ChatGPT Plus and Pro users in the US starting today. It will roll out to more countries, as well as Free and Go users, in the coming weeks.
    • I work for a video production company in Australia. The camera operators shoot footage and then pass the SD card over to the editors. Much easier than handing over the entire camera. Plus, on a busy day you can hand off the SD card and then pop another in for the next shoot. Or, you might have used multiple SD cards because you need the extra space for a long shoot. I also use USB cables and wifi for transferring footage, but in many cases an SD card reader is the easiest method.

It keeps you safe online, protects your privacy, and lets you browse the web quickly. You can even use it on all your devices and keep your browsing history and favorites synced up. Built on the same technology as Chrome, Microsoft Edge has additional built-in features like Startup boost and Sleeping tabs, which boost your browsing experience with world class performance and speed that are optimized to work best with Windows. Microsoft Edge security and privacy features such as Microsoft Defender SmartScreen, Password Monitor, InPrivate search, and Kids Mode help keep you and your loved ones protected and secure online. Microsoft Edge has features to keep both you and your family protected. Enable content filters and access activity reports with your Microsoft Family Safety account and experience a kid-friendly web with Kids Mode. The new Microsoft Edge is now compatible with your favorite extensions, so it’s easy to personalize your browsing experience. Microsoft Edge 149.0.4022.52 changelog: Migration to improved V2 architecture for Workspaces. Workspaces, introduced in Edge in 2022, allows users to create durable sets of tabs that can be saved and shared with others. In order to improve reliability and performance of this feature, the following changes are being made: Migrating data for saved Workspaces from OneDrive/SharePoint to Edge Sync service Removing the collaboration/share functionality of this feature For organizations who have disabled Sync through policy, the existing v1 Workspace data will still be migrated to the new architecture. New v2 Workspaces created after migration won't sync across devices and will remain local to each device. This update occurs on a progressive rollout beginning in Edge Stable v145 and will continue rolling out in Edge v149. For more information, see Getting started with Microsoft Edge Workspaces. Feature Updates Passkey Sync for Enterprise Users. Microsoft Edge is introducing support for passkey synchronization for enterprise users, enabling secure, passwordless authentication across devices. Passkeys created in Edge can now be synced seamlessly, improving sign-in experience while maintaining strong security standards. Note: This is a controlled feature rollout. If you don't see this change, check back as we continue the rollout. Enterprise WebView2 runtime downgrade via DowngradeVersion policy. Administrators can temporarily roll back specific applications to a previous WebView2 Evergreen Runtime version (N-1 or N-2) using the new DowngradeVersion policy in msedgewebview2.admx. The Downgrade Version policy allows enterprises to mitigate critical regressions by specifying per-application exe-to-version mappings. The Edge Updater installs the target version side-by-side, and the WebView2 Loader redirects targeted apps accordingly. Downgrades auto-expire with each new WebView2 release: apps pinned to N-1 remain on the same version (now becoming N-2) and will auto-update in the next release, while apps pinned to N-2 will revert to the current Evergreen version. The policy applies only to enterprise-managed devices (domain-joined or MDM-enrolled). For more information, see Microsoft Edge WebView2 Policy Documentation | Microsoft Learn. Collections retirement. Collections has been removed in this update. Users can no longer access or use the feature. To keep saved content, users can export it, or move all pages to Favorites before updating to Microsoft Edge Stable 149. For more information, see Organize your ideas with Collections in Microsoft Edge - Microsoft Support. Modern, unified, and updated Look and Feel. Microsoft Edge has updated the Look and Feel to give customers a unified experience across all of Microsoft AI surfaces including Copilot and Bing. This changes multiple elements of the UX such as spacing, corners, fonts, default colors, etc. Clarify choices surrounding third-party cookie settings. Language under Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Cookies are clarified to better describe the choices users have in managing third-party cookies. Custom primary password retirement. Users are no longer able to create a new custom primary password in Edge Settings edge://settings/autofill/passwords/settings. Any users who are still using a custom primary password will be automatically migrated to device authentication. Additionally, the PrimaryPasswordSetting policy will no longer support the WithCustomPrimaryPassword option. For more information, see Keep your saved passwords private in Microsoft Edge | Microsoft Support. Unifying Copilot Chat policy controls. The Microsoft365CopilotChatIconEnabled policy is the standard for configuring Copilot Chat. Previously, this behavior was controlled by blocking the Copilot extension, either explicitly or by using the * wildcard via the ExtensionSettings or ExtensionInstallBlockList policies. Extension and sidebar policies no longer affect the appearance or functionality of Copilot Chat. Copilot address bar suggestions were also tied to extension policy settings. Starting in Microsoft Edge version 149, admins can use the CopilotAddressBarSuggestionsEnabled policy to manage this behavior. Intune MAM Protected Downloads. • Media Player Classic - Home Cinema 2.7.2 by Razvan Serea Media Player Classic - Home Cinema (MPC-HC) is a free and open-source video and audio player for Windows. MPC-HC is based on the original Guliverkli project (which is no longer maintained) and contains many additional features and bug fixes. As the continuation of the original Media Player Classic, MPC-HC isn’t flashy but it works with nearly any media format. MPC-HC uses DXVA technology to pass decoding operations to your modern video card, enhancing your viewing experience. And MPC-HC supports both physical and software DVDs with menus, chapter navigation, and subtitles. Overview of features A lot of people seem to be unaware of some of the awesome features that have been added to MPC-HC in the past years. Here is a list of useful options and features that everyone should know about: Dark interface Menu > View > Dark Theme When using dark theme it is also possible to change the height of the seekbar and size of the toolbar buttons. Options > Advanced Video preview on the seekbar Options > Tweaks > Show preview on seek bar Adjust playback speed Menu > Play > Playback rate The buttons in the player that control playback rate take a 2x step by default. This can be customized to smaller values (like 10%): Options > Playback > Speed step Adjusting playback speed works best with the internal audio renderer. This also has automatic pitch correction. Options > Playback > Output > Audio Renderer MPC-HC can remember playback position, so you can resume from that point later Options > Player > History You can quickly seek through a video with Ctrl + Mouse Scrollwheel. You can jump to next/previous file in a folder by pressing PageUp/PageDown. You can perform automatic actions at end of file. For example to go to next file or close player. Options > Playback > After Playback (permanent setting) Menu > Play > After Playback (for current file only) A-B repeat - You can loop a segment of a video. Press [ and ] to set start and stop markers. You can rotate/flip/mirror/stretch/zoom the video Menu > View > Pan&Scan This is also easily done with hotkeys (see below). There are lots of keyboard hotkeys and mouse actions to control the player. They can be customized as well. Options > Player > Keys Tip: there is a search box above the table. You can stream videos directly from Youtube and many other video websites You can stream videos directly from Youtube and many other video websites Put yt-dlp.exe or youtube-dl.exe in the MPC-HC installation folder. Then you can open website URLs in the player: Menu > File > Open File/URL You can even download those videos: Menu > File > Save a copy Tip: to be able to download in best quality with yt-dlp/youtube-dl, it is recommended to also put ffmpeg.exe in the MPC-HC folder. Several YDL configuration options are found here: Options > Advanced This includes an option to specify the location of the .exe in case you don't want to put it in MPC-HC folder. Play HDR video This requires using madVR or MPC Video Renderer. After installation these renderers can be selected here: Options > Playback > Output Ability to search for and download subtitles, either automatically or manually (press D): Options > Subtitles > Misc Besides all these (new) features, there have also been many bugfixes and internal improvements in the player in the past years that give better performance and stability. It also has updated internal codecs. Support was added for CUE sheets, WebVTT subtitles, etc. Media Player Classic - Home Cinema 2.7.2 changelog: Updated LAV Filters to version 0.81-23-g6fadb Updated MPC Video Renderer to version 0.10.2.2540 Updated MediaInfo DLL to version 26.05 Updated MPC Audio Renderer Several crash fixes, bug fixes and small improvements.
