[Official] Mass Effect 2

If it wasn't for the

ridiculous 'human reaper'

I'd say the story in me2 was better all around. I liked the characters a lot more this time around, they seemed to have more personality. And as said above your choices make a pretty big impact on how the end plays out.

Mass Effect 2 could outsell everything in January 6:1

If you bought Mass Effect 2 and you like being on the winning "team" when it comes to game trends, high five.According to DFC Intelligence, BioWare's latest spacefaring adventure sold an estimated 1.1 million copies (of the Xbox 360 version) in January -- six times the sales of any other game. Estimating game sales based onGamerDNA activity, DFC also believes that there was a significant uptick in play of Mass Effect as well, "likely supported by the ability to transfer a save file from a completed Mass Effect game into Mass Effect 2 where several key player decisions in the first game could be carried over into the second game."

The other leading Xbox 360 sellers in DFC's estimate include Darksiders (150,000), Bayonetta (170,000) andArmy of Two: The 40th Day (175,000) -- with Dark Void somewhat of a surprise bomb (22,000).

I didn't bother to look at that chart that close. Nice uptick on Mass Effect 1. +1 to you Iron.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I was one of the ones that played Mass Effect 1 when ME2 neared launch. I had never finished it but I started it again since I had forgotten the play mechanics. I'm now on my second playthrough as a renegade.

Thanks for the +.

finished it

thane and tali died :(. i was kinda choked.. but what are you doing to do? I chose to keep the reaper ship. So who knows how that will play out. That final boss actually wasn't that hard. Other random parts i payed in the game i died more. I played the game on the hardest difficulty so my motivation to go back in isn't that high. Maybe just finish the side quests and get whatever DLC. Im glad i did a lot of sidequests at the beginning and upgrade the hell outta my team. My normandy surviced going into the Omega no problem and the comments they make if you did make those upgrades are cool. Things like that made this game great, uncharted 2 is another good example of doing this like this. Paying attention to the smallest details.

Wicked game, kinda mad i played this because i don't see any other game i play/get for the rest of the year being as good. If you didn't play the first one you are missing out, the fact that this is your story makes this game unlike any other.

woot, just finished ME2 and...

Shepard survived, only Jack Died. Chose to destroy the ship, humans are corrupt they mind end up using it for experiments, so no! Also I chose miranda for most of my final missions, including fire team, twice, but for the final missions I used Mirand And grunt.

For most of my missions it was either legion and grunt or Thane and Miranda. Played around 20+ hours With a lot of side missions. Banged Miranda. All of my crew was loyal to me.

Can't wait for mass effect 3, I hope they bring miranda back with tighter clothes :p

Was able to play for about an hour last night and got two loyalty missions done, Grunt's and the Solarian's. How fast did you guys take down the

Thresher Maw

?

The collector beam helped me take it down in no time.

Actually the collector beam helps me take down anything in no time LOL

I killed it pretty quickly, as I had the Collector heavy weapon and it had a fair share of ammo left. It was not that much of a challenge at all.

Yeah I think the collector beam is the most unbalanced gun in the game. I understand the Cain is the most powerful gun, but you need time for it to charge and there's not that much ammo in it.

The collector beam basically made "Normal" mode "easy"

Except if you hit something with Cain its sure to be dead. One hit kill on most bosses.

Finally finished this last night. Excellent game overall, and the combat was a huge improvement over the first game IMHO (more Gears-like for sure, but that's not a bad thing in my books). They definitely made it more of an action game than an RPG, but I knew that going in, and so it made the change a little less jarring. The only complaint that I had is that there isn't a whole lot of storyline progression as far as the main story is concerned.

All that we really learned is that the Collectors used to be Protheans, and we learned that the Reapers are capable of facilitating some form of reproduction. In the first game we were learning new bits and pieces of the story all the time (through Shepard's visions and so on), but in this one everything seemed to be on the table from the very beginning, and there were barely any revelations. I also didn't like how the Alliance was almost completely absent in this game, despite the fact that they played such a huge part in the story of the first game. Pretty much the bulk of the game was the loyalty missions, and while they were definitely interesting, they were separate from the main story.

Storyline disappointments aside, I still enjoyed the game immensely, and I may very well play it again as a different class sometime soon. I may also try the Omega 4 again, since I lost Legion and Mordin. Apparently Samara was a bad choice for the first team leader (it's suppose to be Jacob, Miranda, or Garrus from my understanding).

Took me roughly 2.5-3 minutes with little to no heavy weapon ammo. Half the time was probably spent hiding behind walls waiting for my healing to kick in (I guess it spits some kind of acid that delays healing or something, but it always took forever to heal after it hit you). Sniper rifles with high armor penetration are a great help here.

I had Garrus lead the fire team both times and he did fine.....the way I look at it, Samara mostly works alone so is probably a crappy leader, whereas Garrus has worked under my leadership in the past, so he should be at least halfway decent and could probably lead similar to me (in game-theory, at least).

But then again - didnt garrus kinda lose his team on omega? :p

Minor spoiler:

I found a Geth Pulse Rifle on Haestrom (Tali's recruitment).

It rips through shields like a hot knife through butter. Does anyone know of a site that lists the locations of all the anomaly missions?

lol how much tighter can they get? Check out the camel toe in the first cutscene...

In the first sequence? IN several sequences! I wonder if they did that on purpose or it's just a result of the actress wearing a skin tight ( too tight) suit whilst movement capturing. Though it kinda makes you want to see miranda in less clothes! Boo for that! Should've at least included a small lingerie cutscene :p

    • The FIFA World Cup is not US centric.
    • It’s amusing how Microsoft is pushing IT admins as if this was a major, game-changing update. In reality, it’s just an enablement package that bumps the build number, which is disappointing compared to the more substantial 22H2 and 24H2 releases. Technically, 25H2, 26H1, and the upcoming 26H2 are essentially the same, differing only in support schedules. They could have included the Windows K2 improvements here, but chose not to. The era of Windows being in the backburner continues, and this 26H2 release feels like an afterthought. Shame, Nadella, shame.
    • Microsoft, totally not confusing /s 25H2 - Current for non-Arm based Windows 26H1 - Current for Arm based Windows 26H2 - Only for non Arm Windows
    • After I installed those, my older but capable Win 11 laptop (16GB RAM) reported it as 26H2 26300.8697. Then I installed it on my big laptop (128GB RAM! Hehe sorry), it reported it as 25H2 26220.8690. Ugh. Do I have to switch Insiders channels from Release to Beta?
