[Official] Mass Effect 2

I just finished it! DAMN AMAZING!

The original games was already among my top 5, this very well could be my new favorite game.

All my crew survived, as well as my squad members. Paragon at 100%, Reneagade avout 20%

45 hours

45 hours and your crew survived, wow. I beat the game in 31 hours and my entire crew died. I guess what matters is the time between the Reaper IFF mission and the final mission.

Well, those extra hours I took the time to explore at 100% every sector in the galaxy (with every planet depleted), did all the missions and all the upgrades.

This game's greatness resides on its design. It's designed as an old school game, gameplay wise. The story it's great even for a "bridge" game. The character development is out of this world. I'm still in awe because those last missions!

Game of the year in january babe!

I did the same. I explored everything (even bought the star charts). I did all the anomaly missions and had everything fully upgraded. What I didn't do is deplete every planet. That must've taken a long time.

As for the game, it's definitely awesome. I loved every bit of it except for the fact that they sorta dumbed down the RPG elements. For example, there aren't nearly as many weapons as there were in ME1. And you can't even check the stats of your armour or weapons. Also, the lack of vehicle-based missions made the game feel even more different than ME1. Hopefully, that'll change with the supposedly upcoming M57 Hammerhead DLC which should add a hover tank to the game.

I guess I'm the only one who has gotten bored of this game?

I've finished all but Legions (haven't done the IFF thing yet) loyalty missions and I can't make myself play more. It's not a bad game...my interest in playing it more is just not there for some reason. For shame too because I bought the CE. I'll finish it eventually though.

Damn, that's some dedication! I usually just mined enough to get the upgrades that benefitted my most used characters.

The game is definitely great. It's so good, as soon as I was done I created a new character, and I'm going through again. I haven't been this engrossed in a single game in as long as I can remember.

And yup, I believe Massiveterra is right about the non-fighting crew. That's why I told my sister to finish absolutely everything she wanted to do before pursing the IFF. That way, once the Omega-4 becomes accessible, you can go right in.

good idea and remember if

Sheppard dies, your pretty much screwed in ME3 :p Though from what i've read it's pretty hard to get sheppard killed

Holy crap! MASSIVE SPOILERS IN THE VIDEO!!!! You've been warned.

Woah! That's crazy! Only watched part 1.

I'm going to start my 3rd playthrough. Guess I'll have to be really lazy to achieve this ending.

From the BioWare FAQ:

Q: Can Shepard really die in Mass Effect 2?

We wouldn't call it a suicide mission if it couldn't happen! Based on your actions if you don't prepare adequately for the final mission, Shepard and any number of squad mates could be killed in action.

And from other sources:

"Its not that hard. Skip everyone's loyalty mission, then make some bad choices in the final mission"

BTW, I hopw that the sequel would take place just months later (In mass effect time) because

I want Thane in my team before he dies!

It should as in the ending you can see the reaper ships already coming!

Damn! I have to work on my masters today. While I am working I'm thinking about the game :(

It's that incredible eh? To be honest, I haven't thought much about it after beating the game. I hope the next game adds multiplayer so we can keep playing after we beat the campaign.

For me it was near perfect, aside some graphic bugs.

The new characters are memorable, all of them were developed fantastically (Well, I dont care very much about Grunt to be honest), specially Thane and Jack backgrounds. Many people dislike Jack, but that is a great reaction since the character is developed exactly like that, to be as dislikeable as possible.

The old characters just got better. Garrus' (My favorite npc in the first game along Wrex) character evolved logically, Tali is the same Tali but matured. My only complain is

the lack of screen time for Wrex and Ashley and I think Tiara's personality changed a little too much in only a two year span.

The story feels quite lackluster compared to the first game, but that is an unfair comparison. The first game's story is an introduction to the Mass Effect universe so it's impact was necessarily and inevitable bigger. Mass Effect 2 is a bridge in the trilogy, still it managed to be interesting and present new and interesting questions to the ME universe like

the true nature of the protheans

. The explore missions are more interesting and some of the loyalty missions are, storywise, epic, like

Jack's bombing of her original prison, Legion's assault against the geths, Mordin's student, Tali's trial on the flotilla, Garru's revenge and specially Thane's son wich revealed a lot lof his personality

. While ME was about Saren and the Reapers ME2 is more about Shepard and his crewmen. Hell, even Joker's character developed immensely and his relationship with EDI made me laugh more than once.

The space exploration and scan minigames felt like a part of an old school space exploration game so I loved them. The armor and weapons are fewer in this game but the upgrades are harder and more expensive.

The attention to detail is awesome, from the conversations you hear while passing by to the way some objects react to your proximity, there is a lot of love involved in the making process here.

The level design is also better in my opinion. The first time I was inside a collector's ship I was in awe, the same with the derelict Reaper. Omega and Tuchanka designs were awesome too. In the other hand illium feels like a b-side from the original Mass Effect, almost like a discarded part of the Citadel :p

That game is not without some several flaws.

When you meet some old crewmen, like Joker, Chakawas, Garrus, Tiara, Tali and even Ashley I expected a more emotive reunion

. Also some exploring missions were quite boring, like the one you had to constantly reactivate a mining robot.

While many disliked the

human Reaper idea

I think the explanation given for it was quite statisfactory, however

if the Reapers' reproduction method borrows the appearance of the species used to build the new Reaper why the other Reapers look the same? My theory is that Sovereign was the first reaper to be destroyed in a very long time so a replacement was also the first needed in centuries so the rest of the Reapers we see are the original ones.

. Also, the final battle, while fun, felt a little too arcadeish.

The combat is repetitive, but it's never boring and it's specially intense in the end missions.

Some narrative elements, like the e-mails you receive and some Galatic News capsules really make you feel you made a difference in the universe. Shepard is like a god (That is even mentioned in the game). But this presents a small hole in the plot. With such fame Im surprised to see many people didnt recognize him at first sight.

The Paragon/Renegade actions in cutscenes are a nice touch and offer multiple ways to resolve a situation.

Just a quick opinion about the game :)

From the recent Steam update (patch 1.1):

  • It is recommended that players reset their keyboard mapping to default values to ensure proper vehicle control

Vehicle control?

EDIT: Never mind. They meant the Normandy.
