Making Gmail automatically move e-mail into a folder when received?

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to create a rule in Gmail that automatically moves e-mail containing a certain word into a certain folder, like you can in Windows Live Hotmail?

That can be done.

Settings > Filters > Create a new filter > In the 'Has the words' box, type the words you want > Next Step ? > In the 'Apply the label' dropdown choose the label you want to apply > Create Filter.

That appears to simply apply a label to the e-mail, therefore allowing it to appear in the label-folder. However, it doesn't seem move it from the Inbox, just 'copies' it to the label-folder.

Check 'Skip the Inbox (Archive it)'.
