Installing XP via Network Boot?

Recommended Posts

IT WAS THIS ONE BUDMAN

http://www.lockstockmods.net/2008/05/26/easy-way-to-pxe-boot-windows/

i coudn't even started because, i coudn't get some of the files that the tutorial mentions

.-Bart Network Boot Disk

.-pxelinux.0

.-memdisk

.-menu.c32

.-bartdisk.IMA

BTW i tried the link you gave me, and read teh forums, and tried , but the dvd generators, hangs when updating sp2(common problem) it took almost 3 hrs , and it hanged at that point.

Form what i read there is no fix.

TBH i would like to try the way the tutorial i linked to you, but they dont have those files anymore, and the bart network boot disk, i cant make the image out of that one(confuses me)

Thanks for your time budman, you have been very helpful.

I do have a question. for you. on all the tutorials they mention to copy the i386 folder.

All my windows xp images(done by me with nlite) have SP2 slip-streamed or SP3. will that be a problem?

shouldn't be.. the i386 folder is just update. I will take a look at that tutorial

edit: Ok I would have to read through this more to be sure.. But you need to create the bard network boot disk.. Sure looks like all the files are still available.

um is not the bartdisk.ima here off that tutorial

http://www.lockstockmods.net/download/13/

I was able to download it off that site

bartdisk.zipFetching info...

There I zipped it up since neowin does not like the .ima as attachment

All of the files are available on page 2 of that tutorial

edit: if I get a chance I will walk through that tut and test it - but from quick look, files are available to download and would have to assume it works, seems like a lot of work to put together such a thing if it didn't ;)

the problem that i have is when they say SHARE the folder. i did a network setup wizard so i can have the share on this network option(it's grayed out)

But on the picture, it has a different share option. (i'll keep triying)

Thanks again for your help.

i apologize to the mods fo this site, i wanted to edit, but it didn't let me.

I got the disk budman thanks. and the other 3 files i got them from another site. the ones from the tutorial when i open the links , i get a page with a lot of letters instead of the file.

i have followed this tutorial.

http://www.codesingh.com/2009/06/walkthrough-install-win-xp-by-booting.html

i get to teh part where i can install windows, but it gives me this error(translated to Spanish to English)

Windows needs a hard disk with 650mb of free space

windows cannot see a hdd with free space.(something like that)

On the bios the hdd is detected, i took the hdd 20gb and connected it to my pc, (usb enclosure)and formatted the hdd(all 20gb of the hdd , primary partition) and i still get the same error when triying to install windows

i'll destroy the partition on the hdd, and leave it with no partition. and try again.

Should i do something different? i'm so close!!

And if you got the files from another site.. How do you know they are the same file??

Right click the link and say save as, and you wont get the garbled text in a page you talk about.

I will prob have time to run through the tut tmrw morning -- going to spend some quality time with the wife tonight ;) heheh

    • Zen Browser 1.13.1b by Razvan Serea Zen Browser is a privacy-focused, open-source web browser built on Mozilla Firefox, offering users a secure and customizable browsing experience. It emphasizes privacy by blocking trackers, ads, and ensuring your data isn't collected. With Zen Mods, users can enhance their browser experience with various customization options, including features like split views and vertical tabs. The browser is designed for efficiency, providing fast browsing speeds and a lightweight interface. Zen Browser prioritizes user control over the browsing experience, offering a minimal yet powerful alternative to traditional web browsers while keeping your online activity private. Zen Browser’s DRM limitation Zen Browser currently lacks support for DRM-protected content, meaning streaming services like Netflix and HBO Max are inaccessible. This is due to the absence of a Widevine license, which requires significant costs and is financially unfeasible for the developer. Additionally, applying for this license would require Zen to be part of a larger company, similar to Mozilla or Brave. Therefore, DRM-protected media won't be supported in Zen Browser for the foreseeable future. Zen Browser offers features that improve user experience, privacy, and customization: Privacy-Focused: Blocks trackers and minimizes data collection. Automatic Updates: Keeps the browser updated with security patches. Zen Mods: Customizable themes and layouts. Workspaces: Organize tabs into different workspaces. • Just hope it will not be as bad as History of the World: Part II...
    • +1 for LibreOffice. At least you should try it. The one from M$ is just a bloated turd at this point.
