Brandon
I want to disable whatever port World of Warcraft is using so my Roommate can't play in the room anymore. I can't stand coming back and not being able to have my GF over or a few guys because he's in an 'intense' raid. I have a WRT54G router in the room, so I just need the port number. Brandon
Thanks! wtf you can't have people over when he is playing? Its a dorm room. Its super annoying when he's voice-chatting with other people.
SMELTN
LMAO this is great, please post a follow up after you actually block them and see his response. I know when my wife took my modem and locked it in the safe so I couldn't play one time about 2 years ago was priceless after I quit playing and look back at it. I would love to see what he says or does. Video would be better :p Cupcakes 1 Share

Kirkburn
Couldn't you ... er ... just talk about it? Rather than upping the ante and ****ing more people off?

+SOOPRcow MVC Posted February 8, 2010 MVC Share Posted February 8, 2010 I would just unplug the router and plug my PC right into the net if ya did that to me. Well, I would probably just swap routers so I'm still behind a firewall :)
+jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted February 8, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted February 8, 2010 If you're paying for the broadband, go ahead and block it. If you're both paying for it... It's not really fair. I detest World of Warcraft, but it's all shenanigans.
Geoffrey B. Veteran Posted February 8, 2010 Veteran Share Posted February 8, 2010 If you share the bills in any way and they pay a part of the internet bill. Then if you block it and prevent them from accessing the ports necessary to connect then they have cause to sue you. just sayin.
Duality
Speak to him and come to some sort of agreement. Doing something like this will just result in a ######-for-tat response.
____
Trying to prevent him from playing WoW is only a temporary solution, convince him that school is a waste of time and he should drop out so he can focus on his raiding career and then you'll be done with him forever. Raa
I don't think you'll get a happy result. If he's an intense raider, he's most likely going to chuck a huge spazz when you do it. Google up some "cut off WoW" videos - you'll see what I mean
dead.cell
Thanks! Its a dorm room. Its super annoying when he's voice-chatting with other people. Perhaps you could block the ventrilo instead? lol, that'd shut him up. :p

I highly doubt a judge would even consider letting a frivolous lawsuit like that go forward.

Well Im not sure if he has over a 2.5 And switched majors from bio because it was "too hard and too much work" ie. he couldn't get by without studying or doing homework. Brandon
To make a long story short.. He'd be up until 5am playing (although when I was asleep, he didnt voice-chat). The problem is when you are up until 5am, you have a tenancy to sleep until way past noon... which blew for me because then I couldn't really do anything in my room (like homework, have friends over to hang out, watch TV etc) as I go to bed at a normal time (12-1am) and arise around 9am. He took a break from WoW due to not having enough money, but now that his GF dumped him (I wonder why?) he said he was going to go back (why he tells this to me.. I have no idea). obiwong
welcome to living in a dorm with a roommate what makes you think what you're doing is fair? you can't block him from playing WoW anymore than he can request for your gf or friends to not come over talk to him and work something out
Got3n
I approve of this method, i did that so when my friends come over they cant play on my internet since i stopped playing, i want nothing to do with that game. Be back in a bit, checking MMO Champion lol.

Oh god, I know how all that crap goes. I used to reset the router remotely every night she (my friend's do-nothing wife) raided. ____ and Cupcakes 2 Share
Solid Knight
If he is connecting to it wirelessly you can also block wireless administration to the router which should prevent him from changing it back should he know the admin password or discover it through other means.
