so there is no indication of a release date? I guess we should all get Bad Company 2 first to play with til BF3 comes out? I'd hate it if it's released in the next few months after BC2 is released

Oh, of course it will. Developers will say anything to get a buck. Ah, the power of marketing! It's the same thing when musicians say "our best album ever". Sadly, they usually suck.

As for BF3, I didn't even know they were serious about making BF3. Like Liliegren said, the numbers on the PC are dwindling, and I didn't think that a PC-centric Battlefield game was still in the cards for a company like EA. I had resigned myself to the belief that the best we can hope for are well-made PC versions of console-centric games (which BF:BC2 seems to be judging from my time with the beta).

The lack of a demo has held me off so far but I was under the impression there was a PC only dev crew at work on BC2. The only shared content should be resources, no?

The PC version of Bad Company 2 was simultaneously developed alongside the console version. It isn't a mere console port.

At the moment (on the Beta version), it is. The FOV is still from Console and not optimized yet for PC.

They say they're fixing them though which will be on the retail. But it's only about a week away...I'm quite skeptical

Not everyone wanted World War II shooters gone.

Yeah, I dig WWII games too. I think the market just got saturated in much the same way it is now with "modern combat".

I have a question: Is there another game (including the other Battlefield games) that is like 1942 + Desert combat. I mean in how it plays with a big open map where you don't get killed within 5 seconds of spawning damn near every time like you do in 2142. The only ones I own (and have played) are 1942 + it's xpansions and 2142.

I loved BF2. I never had any issues like you described on BF2 or BF2142. I think that the modern weapons in BF2 made it a better game than BF2142 with it's "future" weapons.

Battlefield Vietnam was alot like 1942 imo. Very open maps and tons of vehicles etc. The only problem with the vehicles in that game were that you could play the radio and get your butt kicked instantly because of it :o

That being said, the only games recently that were like 1942 are: Frontlines: Fuel of War and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

Considering the guys who made Desert Combat made Frontlines, yeahhhhhh.

Be that as it may but the beta isn't indicative of the final product. By this point, the game has probably already gone gold. Any further changes made because of the PC beta will be added with a patch or series of patches. By the way, a customizable FOV will be added with a patch.

Anyway, I hope DICE includes jets in Battlefield 3. More vehicles too, and weapons. Basically, lots of weapons + lots of vehicles + a good number of maps + high player count = WIN.

I have yet to play BF2 so I might do that. 2142 drives me nuts because it's so frantic. Any recommended mods for 2142? (since I have it installed anyways) As I said, big fan of Desert Combat (large maps, abundant vehicles, and the helicopters are great)

Looking very forwrd to BF:BC2 right now, but in reply to the above...

YEAH! YEAH!, Let's hate everything! Everything but this...

+1

Except the soundpart of the engine Bad Company uses

It is absolutely amazing :D

True, the sound in BC1 is tops.

Then you just need to play ArmA II, then we're 2 players on Neowin

I have played ARMA II quite a bit actually. A friend of mine has it on his PC and I have played it at his house. My PC won't run it, as far as I know.

I don't think Enemy Territory QW is much like Battlefield outside of being a large scale multiplayer team based game. In ET you don't capture flags, you take over territory based on completing or defending objectives and there is no "reinforcement count" that has to drop to zero to lose the game. The actual FPS gameplay in ET is much closer to Quake 3 than Battlefield, old school FPS game play where you hold down shift to run super fast and can shoot accurately while moving. It even has the same Quake 3 hit detection sounds. Not many people still play it but there are a few servers that are regularly full that I play on, one of my favorite games, of course so was the original Enemy Territory.

Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3 isn't the same thing ;)

LOL, on my desktop now. Remind me to never access the forums at 1:00am on my iPod touch screen. It makes me look dumb  But ya can't wait for 3!
