Metro 2033 PC specs revealed

Recommended Posts

I don't get why people give companys **** for releasing games that require yet to be released hardware to run them at full settings.

I could understand if the game didn't look great but that's not the case with this game.

Sure it's recommended system requirements are about the same as most new fps's optimum but you can be sure that even at medium settings it'll look as good or better than many new games on the market.

Do you guys not want the option to play it again at even better gfx in a year or two if you happen to upgrade your hardware?

Why should a company dumb down a games gfx just so current hardware can run it on high.

As a pc gamer i would like (hope) to think that we are not to stupid to just slide the bar down to high/medium instead of getting a low framerate at max and complaining.

edit: i know most of the people who posted in this thread aren't complaining, im just ranting because i know hundreds of people will complain like they did with crysis

1. You are assuming it looks that much better, so far i haven't seen anyting all that impressive in this game. The mood looks great but i question how much "better" it looks than a number of other games.

2. Crysis is a poor example since it still runs like poo on almost everything except the most extreme rigs, where it still doesn't work great considering what you are throwing at it.

3. I do agree, turing down the details seems to be a lost art, it was a year before I had the hardware to run Quake II at max settings, but that was a fun year.

The minimum requirements are not actually that bad, yes your not gonna max it out but I bet its more than playable.

My pc exceeds the minimum and ive not upgraded for almost 3 years...

It might be a poorly-optimized game on the PC, hence the specifications.

But, whatever. I am hardly interested in this game anyways. Might buy it if there is a price drop, but otherwise, I am steering clear.

I just started playing this game.

When I first loaded up the game, I maxed everything out and set it to 1920x1200, and of course DX11. Basically even the menu system was slow and laggy.

So there was really only 2 options for AA and AF (i believe those are the 2) so either high setting, or very high setting lol, I of course lowered it too the lower one.

The game looks and plays amazing, though when I am fighting a bunch of guys, it seems to slow down, but its not even a laggy kind of slow, it's quite weird. So overall 90% maxed settings, amazing with my specs.

I have a Q6000 2.4Ghz Quad, 8GB DDR2, HD5870

Though to see it play on a NVIDIA based card, and 3D and everything 100% maxed, would be nice.

That's nonsense, like the GTA IV - intentionally unoptimized software! One more evidence for the sick relationship between developers and hardware factories.

I was reading the Steam forums. Turn off Tessellation and Advanced Depth of View. With these two features off, people were able to max everything with similar specs to yours.

I have it running well on my Sapphire 5770 in DX10 on High settings

Phenom II 965 BE 3.4Ghz

4Gb 1066Mhz Corsair DDR2

DX11 is another story, does not run well even on low in DX11

With the excepting to battles (which even then is only a bit of lag, I can handle it) 1920x1200 everything maxed, but Tessellation is turned off, that is the only thing.

*I am at the part with my new friend, after getting to the station. With all the things attacking us.....i keep running out of the gas mask, and I choke and die, I dont see any new mask? Might have to load a different save, farther back.
