Bollard
Hello, Im looking for a decent (preferably UK, but flexible) web host that offers decent and full DNS control (as will need to setup records for Exchange Server). Any reccomendations spring to mind? The DNS is very important to me. Cheers
0 Bryan R.
I use 1and1.com as my domain name registrar and DNS host. They are cheap, reliable, and I like their interface. As far as cheap web hosting, I can't vouch for their pricing as thats not a service I have shopped around for. I would guess that they are competitive at the very least. 0 Bollard
Thanks for the reply. I looked into 1and1 but was scared off by their advert filled website. This sounds rather cheecky, but is there any chance you could post a screen shot of the DNS managment / control panel (of course with all your details erased out)? I really wish these sites would offer Demo's that you could try out before hand...
0 Bryan R.
Here is the DNS settings screen. Keep in mind that my DNS is set to what I need..So maybe it's what your looking for or maybe not. As for the adverts: It's just the marketing strategy they use.
0 Cupcakes
I use 3rd party DNS websites to manage my DNS information. EditDNS and EveryDNS are two of them. As far as hosting goes, after reading about needing to setup an exchange server records, are you needing Windows-based hosting? - http://www.lunarpages.com/windows-hosting/ - http://www.hdwindows.com/ - http://www.accuwebhosting.com/
0 +BudMan MVC Posted March 2, 2010 MVC Share Posted March 2, 2010 As already mentioned you don't have to use your webhost as your dns provider -- couple already mentioned, but there are plenty of dns services out there zoneedit, dyndns.org, .public-servers.com etc. .etc.. Also lots of registrars also offer full service dns, godaddy for example.
