New Line Cinema has optioned the rights for a film adaptation of the PS3 title Heavy Rain.

According to Joystiq, the studio acquired the license in May 2006, shortly after a casting trailer for the game was shown at E3.

Developed by Quantic Dream, Heavy Rain has been heralded as "interactive fiction". Its storyline follows four characters as the track a serial murderer known as the Origami Killer.

The game features a unique control scheme, using a trigger button for movement and the analogue stick to control the position of the character's head. Set pieces are carried out through "context sensitive" actions or quick time events. Players can also access their characters' thoughts at the push of a button.

Published by Sony, Heavy Rain is available for PS3 now.

(Minor GAME Complaint - Once again Sony puts out another game a lot of people thought Ingame graphics gonna look REALLY REALLY good, but actually not really that good)

But it's a strong story/gameplay oriented game, so complaint about graphics is like I said - MINOR :)

I DON'T have this game yet (WILL when it's lower in price) but for those who are curious

You know we DO have a HR thread in the PS3 lounge.. there's really no need to post all these clips.

I made the thread because it was about a movie but yeah I didn't ask for the clips :p

Jesus all you people do is complain about what I post!

Yes it's about movie but I post clips to ONLY show what this game is about so people who DON'T PLAY this game can understand what kind of movie to EXPECT!

You think I post the clips to DISCUSS the game?

You must be the exception to the rule about natural selection.

OK, here's a post that's on-topic and doesn't bash JediXAngel. :p

A "Heavy Rain" movie isn't going to work too well, as the game is based on being able to carve your own story depending on the decisions you make, leading up to just one of many different endings. A movie version would be just one linear path with just one ending.

wouldnt be cool if there was like 4 different films given to cinemas and they decide which one to show, each has a different ending

Well, thanks for not bashing, as it is totally Unproductive!

But you know our Blu-ray technology can have a choose your own story/path feature now? They may show ONE version in the movie theaters, but on Blu-ray hopefully you can carve up your own!

Technically, we already have that Blu-Ray in the form of the actual game itself.

I am just Happy anytime there is a video game-Movie adaptation now days. Frigging Uwe Boll and his minions have ruined the reputation, I am just hoping for a good one to be made to REPAIR the damaged Rep!!!

I just want to see ALL kinds of VG movies made (Fallout 3, Oblivion, Bioshock, Mass Effect, etc AND Dreamfall, Indigo Prophecy because these stories are BETTER!

People always Fear... what if they make another BAD one... well to me we should just have FAITH!!! :)

Maybe the movie will be better than Avatar!!!1

Well everyone here does have a valid point for not having high hopes for this. Hollywood doesn't have a good track record with video game movies, even is Uwe Boll isn't involved. Even the Hollywood movies based on gaming but not based on a game are usually terrible. "Gamer" instantly springs to mind.

There is always a START to success.... cuz MOST of things/experiments FAIL at first!

When you have a Success it goes EASIER from there, a lot of people are dumb (Uwe Boll) they don't know what they are doing, and unfortunately they are the ONLY ones doing them... Lord knows why BUT if we have RIGHT people involved, I am NOT worried!

Scientists doesn't just frustrate out and say "Hell with it, we tried 10 times it's time to Give up!" we won't have a future with attitude like that! :)

I believe ANYTHING can happen, it's just WHO does it is the issue. James Cameron takes on a Video game-movie adaptation or Stephen Spielberg I know it will be great!

    • Threads scales past half a billion users, brings deeper community and feed controls by Fiza Ali Meta has announced Threads crossing a major milestone of 500 million monthly active users. And, at the heart of this growth sits something simple: communities. From books to basketball, parenting to music, Threads says its rise has been powered by people clustering around shared interests and, in turn, giving the platform its identity. In response, the platform is expanding its Communities feature beyond beta and introducing a set of new tools designed to make participation easier and more engaging. A redesigned Communities Hub will now appear in the main navigation menu, allowing users to jump between groups without leaving their feed. Each community will also receive a distinct Community Icon, giving them clearer visual identity and making them easier to recognise across the platform. Then there’s Community Progress, which is a kind of live gauge showing how close a topic is to becoming a full-fledged community, alongside guidance on how users can contribute to its development. In addition, Meta is also expanding its Community Champions programme, recognising more users who actively contribute to community engagement. And then things go more local; Local Communities is already available in 100 countries, including North America, South America, Asia, and Europe but are now rolling out with native-language tags starting in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. The platform is also expanding Live Chats to more communities in the coming weeks, adding features such as co-hosting and the ability to quote moments directly into users’ feeds. Beyond communities, Meta is tightening the loop between users and their feeds. Earlier this year came "Dear Algo," a feature that lets people tell Threads what they want more or less of. Now it’s being paired with a new tool, "Your Algo." It allows people to adjust how frequently certain topics appear, with options lasting one, three, or seven days. Meta says these preferences remain private and can be managed alongside “Dear Algo” in a unified settings hub. The rollout begins in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand. Finally, the company says these changes are part of an ongoing effort to refine Threads based on user feedback and that further updates will continue as the platform evolves.
    • You pay just $100 per TB with this rare 4TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD deal by Sayan Sen SSDs and GPUs are incredibly hard to get nowadays due to high pricing. Discounts are quite rare which is why we report on them as soon as we spot a good deal. For example AMD's new 9070 GRE was finally up for sale at a very good price of just $500 thanks to a special coupon. Sadly that deal is gone but if you happen to be looking for a 4TB NVMe SSD and can spend around $400 there is a really good offer on sale that you should not miss out on as TeamGroup's 4TB G50 model is on sale for that that price which means you are only paying $100 per TB, a very good deal in the current market (purchase link under the specs table down below). The TeamGroup T-FORCE G50 NVMe SSD is a PCIe Gen4 drive and as such it promises to deliver sequential read speeds of up to 5,000 MB/s, helping accelerate game loading, file transfers, and everyday computing tasks. Since this is a 4TB drive you can use it for a gaming library to take advantage of things like DirectStorage. The SSD features an InnoGrit controller and SLC caching technology to support consistent performance. An ultra-thin, patented graphene heatsink is included to aid in heat dissipation. • I agree. I also think Phil stayed too long. They should definitely fire whoever thought all a console platform needed was Call of Duty, Elder Scrolls, and Fallout to survive. Asha and crew are still saying they need more Elder Scrolls and Fallout games. They simply don't get it.
